hello all , i recently bought a secondhand sv1000 , to replace my 650 , and have been having porblems with surging.
It comes and goes and usually occurs under 3500 revs. The bike shakes/ surges and then drops away , almost like it's stuttering. the problem will occur for 20/30 miles and will then disappear for up to a 100.

I have had it back at the dealers various times and have now given up on them as being incompetent. They have blamed various things from an leaking air intake to buttefly valves and the throttle .

I must point out that my knowledge of motorbikes and their inner workings is limited to oil changes and new brake pads, so i would appreciate any advice in laymans terms if possible.
I live in london and would also appreciate it if anyone could suggest a good garage to take it to for some diagnostics if needed .

mine does it they all do it, this concerned me at first when i got mine but you just get used to it, does it feel like a tiny bit of fuel starvation? like a miss every now and again? you'll find this happens on a steady throttle neither accelerating or decelerating as if its hunting for fuel, it can be cured with a re-map.

Don't actually have an SV1000, but sounds like its just mapped out to keep the tree huggers happy.

Nah completely different on those, on the TL its a sign that its about to blow up, is worth £100 and that he should sell it to me :p
