According to More Cr*p than News, Darrell Healey (Boss of GSE who run the team) has decided to quit.
Apparently Ducati Corse said that it isn't possible to race the 1098 without using racing pistons which the new revised BSB rules don't allow unless a 'sound engineering reason' can be provided - something that they weren't able to do !!
So finally someone has had the balls to stand up to Ducati & say
"NO !! These are the rules - play within them of p*ss off !!"
Now my feelings regarding Ducati are well known on this forum - but I maintain that it will have ZERO effect on the championship as regards attendance at races, television viewing figures etc.
The full story can be found HERE (http://www.motorcyclenews.com/MCN/sport/sportresults/mcn/2007/october/oct15-21/oct1507gseracingquitbsb/)
Unfortunately I cant go to the tracks, but I watch on TV. The absence of Ducati wont reduce the enjoyment for me.

Unfortunately it will for me. I love having some form of Twin. The different sounds make it for me. Yeah it wont take away from the racing. But i do agree they do need to play by the rules.

There was talk of GSE going to WSB again, are they doing this or have they quit completely...

According to the MCN article DH has ruled out going to WSB because negotiations with a potential sponsor have 'broken down'.
I'm sorry that DH is going becasue he's put a lot into the sport over the years - as well as developing new British talent - it's just a shame (IMO) that he for some reason won't look at continuing with another manufacturer.

crash.net have had the same article up, so its not complete codswallop. Its a sad day that ducati dont compete a factory team in BSB, arguably the best domestic championship in the world. But its there own fault. And anyway, why dont ducati just homogate (sp) the correct pistons in a rediculously expensive version of the 1098 like they always did with the other ducati superbikes when they wanted something special on the race bikes?
Ducati are to blame here, not BSB, and I admire BSB for saying "no, you cant have what you want".
Least it gives suzuki a chance next year :D
Oh, whats going on with honda in BSB?

sounds like a tactical ploy to me. give it a couple of weeks & MCN'll have a "GSE reconsider blah blah" story

V strange- the Ducati hospitality was completely deserted on Sunday night- you would have thought they'd be celebrating/commiserating properly....maybe they went off track though.......
Totally agree that Ducati have to play by the rules- after seeing what happens in the minitwins series (sv650 vs Ducati 800ss), I can only see it replicating in the superbike leagues.
However, we all mentioned on Sunday that it wouldn't be the same at the track without the sound of the Ducatis going round..........

From what I understand HRC are pulling out of BSB leaving HM Plant as a purely 'private' team.
As to who will ride for them next year - the strongest rumours apparently involve The Great Monobrow (Leon Haslam) & Leon Camier (subject to recovering from his horrendous Cadwell accident)
From what I heard from one of the other teams at the track on Friday/Sunday, there were plenty of meetings happening on saturday/sunday at the track and lots of new developments with both teams and riders but the final details would only be revealed later this month due to contracts etc. needing to be drawn up. Apparently, and this is only hearsay, there are big changes underfoot at both HM Plant and Stobart for next year. I have'nt heard anything about Ducati but my source was rather pished when I spoke to him on sunday evening...
