Popped down to my local bike shop who are trying to shift these out at £3999 pre reg'd but apart from that as new, sat on one and liked it, nice and upright but with a fairing to keep some of the wind off, but...is it just dog ugly, or functional?

I think they look great! All mean and stuff, like a kawasaki should be. And very functional too. If i wasnt so attached to my SV, I would sell it when my restriction time is up and get one of these

If you can afford it, go for it. I would. Easy to get a topbox on there aswell (you dont have to, but it mayaswell be super-practical as well as fun)

I'm bikeless at the moment and last year loved winter riding, so much that I did 5000 miles between october and march!!
I'll have to go have a ride i think...

Sure skip rides one of these.....
buy it, sell the fairing and with the money buy some decent twin lights.

Back in the topbox you :p
I think the addition of a fairing is great, certainly would help on longer rides at motorway speeds
strange how z750's feel like the most natural bike I've ever sat on

Depends if you really want functional. Maybe I'm biased but second hand z1000s go for bargain money - better components, better looks, bigger bang for your buck AND only a fiver more to insure than the 750 (well it was for us anyway).
Here's one but you'll always find one or two going for less than 4k if you look

I do indeed! :D
Its a great bike IMO - no slower than a Z1000 up to 100mph and although not as much bling - you get more wind protection. I did a trackday at Donington Park on it last week and was overtaking many sportsbikes all day long so it can perform too ;)
If I had to be critical I would say that the brakes arent up to much (same as the SV), the seat is very hard and the overall finish is a bit cheap - but if you are used to a Suzuki there is no problem there ;)
Its a great bike that has served me well for the past year and I really have no idea what I would change it for - so I am keeping it
Financially I paid £4495 for it brand new and unregistered - I was offered £3000 for it a couple of months back as a trade in one year old and with 7500 miles on it....

cool - thanks for the info, - how did it cope with winter rideing? does regular cleaning do or do you use anything more to help prevent corosion(sp) ?
I think I may just have to get one :) insurance is onlt £350 a year too.

To be totally honest I didnt ride it through the worst of winter  But I know a guy who did over on www.zee750s.com and it just about survived with lashings of ACF50 and regular cleaning. Its a budget bike though and like I said the finish isnt the best - but bang for buck on a new bike I dont think you can go wrong... :)
Bloke at work has one. He has ridden through two winters on it. It doesn't look to hot now though.
Can't say as I know how well he pampers it during those winter months but it does not seem to like the wet weather at all. It is now looking quite rough around the edges.
Yes that picture above was taken at 3500 miles - mine is not looking quite as nice now at 9000 miles :( But its a budget bike - it will take more looking after to keep nice than a Honda or whatever - depends on what you want from a bike...

Aye, they seem to be of the current Kwak standard of build quality, ie, actually worse than Suzuki. But you have to put into perspective, you can afford a Z750 and the insurance and the tax and have a good chunk left in your pocket too compared to the price of a Hornet, frinstance. Or, if you prefer, for the price of an SV with twice as much engine. Most people who cry about build quality have quickly forgotten how much they paid I think. Most of it's recoverable too, Kwak are clever with that- the bits that corrode worst are the bits that you can replace, generally, like brake hoses, individual fasteners... Scooby Drew's Ninja looks like it's spent a good part of its life in the sea, but it's still basically rock solid and the bits that have to work, work. A GSXR would probably look better but I bet you a pound it wouldn't be in such good condition where it counts.

I gotta say skip, with those cans on your bike looks beasty
What about a bellypan? I think that would finish it off nicely

Have thought about it but because of the odd way the exhaust runs on the 750 (which only has one exhaust can) none of them look that great IMO :(

For what it's worth I think they look terrible :smt104.
They are a bargain at that price but that's because they haven't sold well in the UK, so beware poor depreciation.
You pays y'money and y'takes y'choice.

Have you actually seen one - its one of those better looking in the flesh bikes IMO....

Yep, have seen them in the flesh, and close up. Sorry but they do nothing for me.
yeah i think that looks alright
and the z1000 looks damn good eviltwin
I like the ones with two separate seats, and fly screen. Seen orange one with tail tidy and race can, looked like a right hooligan bike and its tyres were shredded. Someone asked me difference between seat arrangments other day but I don't know, is it age or faired or not that decides?
I sprayed mine with ACF50 and rode through last winter and there isn't any sign of rust or furring anywhere on it. I think Skip's one had a bit more rust than mine but I don't think he believes in ACF50.

Well you look at that pic of Skips bike and she sure aint no Camilla. Nice bike indeed.
I think that the Z is one of these bikes that looks good from some angles and not so good from other. It also seems to look better in flesh than in photos. Skip's bike also looks better than your average Z because of his pipe and tail tidy.
Here are some more "good angles"(me thinks):
