So, after destroying African salt lakes untouched by humans for thousands of years, and "irresponsibly" driving pickup trucks to the pole during a time of hysteria over global warming, the boys have done it again... by... wait for it....

Smoking pipes in the studio

Yawn.
I love these guys. Let them carry on and see who else they can annoy. People who complain just have too much time on their hands in my opinion.

The Ban may have started in July down south, but the question is - when was this filmed! I mean it isn't live so it could have been done in May or something8-[

People must surely sit watching the programme waiting to have something to complain about.

The enjoyable thing about watching top gear is the un PC joke, if you dont like them dont watch them.

I think they film the studio bit and star in a reasonably priced car stuff a few days before it is aired.

I like thier current rift with 5th Gear :)

Me too, v amusing.

Fifth gear isnt that bad...At least they have an open mind when it comes to bikes. If I remember correctly they have had a few Bike VS car races featuring Leon Haslam, James Toseland and some motorcross champ (cant think of his name ) and havent been pathetic, whingey loosers. This is in stark contrast to clarkson who is so narrow minded that even when he looses he thinks hes won. Plus no-one can get their viewpoint across.

BTW, I do like TopGear, clarkson just irritates me with his arrogance

I'm not jealous either that she was a racing instructor at my age. Not at all. Not even a tiny ****ing bit in the slightest

5th gears alright though, better than a lot out there. Is it just me or does Tiff speak in a rather odd way?

Must have been filmed recently as they spoke about the Jason Plato accident, where he caught fire.

I like both although I hate it when there are adverts in the car programmes.

There should be more un-PC telly on, nobody really gets offended do they? They just think that they should be offended.

Well I like BOTH programs actually ... although have to admit that Top Gear's pi$$-take of them was hilarious ... Clarkson says, "Look, they tried to roll a Rascal van [insert cut of Fifth Gear - who were actually trying to powerslide it - not roll it (Artistic license!)] ... we did it ages ago [cut to shot of Top gear presenter rolling the Rascal van] ... one of their presenters 'had a crash and broke his toe'?!"* [Clarkson just points to and looks at Hammond] (nuff sed) ...

Very funny ... Clarkson ... love him or hate him, he speaks his mind, and some of it I'm sure he makes controversial for the sake of it (probably because he actually likes winding people like the anti-lobbyists up). Let him get on with it! That's what I say! Top Gear is bloody good TV in a time when there is so much dross on the telly.

VBH is fit - I would!

Tiff Needell has a sort of infectious and yet annoying enthusiasm for what he does.

That curly-haired bloke reminds me of one of the hairy bikers (only not quite as funny).

Oh and Top Gears claims that Fifth Gear burnt all their stuff - funny!

I like Fifth Gear tho cos they do include bikes ... in fact, I think next week they are racing a car and a bike again (can't remember what tho now).

Perfect bring back Alf Garnet! Well maybe not, but the whole world has gone too far with PC stuff and a balance needs to be struck it is totally ridiculous.

Top gear is more of a program anyone can watch, not just motor enthusiastic tics. Whereas I just find fifth gear very focused on car reviews and not much else.

Top Gear is way more fun to watch, its just innovating what they do - makes it more interesting.

i doubt clarkson really is particularly narrow minded, its the role he has, it is funny, so he does it perhaps?

i doubt he really hates bikes and all the other stuff he goes on about

makes it irritatingly funny

I think its disgraceful and should be banned. How dare these people flout the law by smoking in the workplace after so much effort has been put into the smoking ban.First Keith Richards does it on stage and now these bloody hooligans.
Bring back the birch and let them smoke that.

I wish we could get all these complaining types in one place, and do some big rolling burnouts round them, while drunk, and exceeding the speed limit.
And stick some lead in the petrol, just for an extra kick in the nuts to any environmentalist types there. :p

Top Gear is the dogs ermmmmm bits, was wondering how they would beat last week and they did it by smoking (when I saw it I wondered how long it would take for someone to moan)
And the race to France
Which btw they were moaned at about that too by the RNLI or however it is spelt

Top gear is one of the few shows I actually enjoy watching, as I said on a different theard Why isn't there a Top Gear for Bikes! I say the only way to deal with the people that complain is to line them up against a wall and let rip with mini guns, its the only way to be sure:rolleyes: We need more shows like Top Gear, but I'm afraid that won't happen.

VBH, well when I worked on a show with her a few years back, a few us were like would you? Hell yes:thumbsup: This was spolit by someone of the crew by them saying she likes girls only dam it! No I did ask her, we just about bikes. But to be honest who would that stop;)

Not sure how many of you are aware that the BBC are cutting the fauctual program making budget which will affect the budget of shows like top gear. To make way for more shows, like I'm fat **** and can't stop eating, how to sell house the ect! Arrgh I'm gonna stop paying the licence fee:rant:

Why isn't there a Top Gear for Bikes!
it would be an MCN style rant, as well as really nerdy I reckon. Also there isn't a large enough demand; every sky program trying to work this market has failed.

the_lone_wolf
17-10-07, 09:03 AM
plus you'd end up with a presenter with the antithesis of jeremy clarkson's views, and 99% of people on the road wouldn't agree with him

It doesn't have to be MCN style rant.....but I think it if done right it would be good. The general public don't have a clue about bikes, so anything that can be done to educate is good.

Also the BBC is a public company, which by its remit is meant to programs, for smaller audiences as thats whats is there for. Not sure how mnay people watch top gear now, but all be it a niche market there is place for such a program. The problem with sat TV only a small number have it, where as everone has regular tv.

Miss Alpinestarhero

I think a Top Gear style programme could be done quite easily for bikes. It would succeed if thought out properly - theres no reason for why shouldnt work.

Obviously the format cant be exactly the same as top-gear due to copyright or some random law, but you get what I mean

It would be great if they had features on - offroading abroad, stunts, even top gear style '£200 challenge'. But I imagine it would be rubbish. I don't think any TV company would be willing to take the risk, and the whingers would jump on straight away if anyone did any'dangerous' riding

Can't see the Beeb pulling a show which attracts 8 million viewers (that figure was banded about a couple of series ago) on a Sunday night at 8pm.

The main problem is that BBC are cutting back factual budgets, and Top gear was mentioned as a program that suffer due to this in a TV industry report I read a while back. That why I changed jobs, becasue with the cuts back they wanted people to do more for less money.

Still, at least no-one has started to mention the "fantastic" channel that is "Men And Motors"..... This disappeared from freeview a short while back - is it still around?

That really was the epitomeyof crapness.....

And, yup, VBH is fit.
