Hi All,
I got my SV and 3 days into riding it now, and i am loving it.
She sounds a bit washed out tho i must admit with the stock silencer on her.
I have been quoted £224 for the Slip on version (Stainless) delivered, or £375 for the Full System (again stanless) Delivered.
Are these
1) Good Prices?
2) Good Exhaust?
3) Re-map Necessary?
Thanks for your help

Those prices sound good to me, as Yoshimura are usually expensive.
Having said that i have no idea on the usual prices, for a Yoshi system on a SV. However i do seem to recall Northwind saying he wasn't impressed with the effort they had put into the SV exhaust. Do a search for recent yoshi threads...there have been a few.
Have a look at demon tweeks or other online retailers for an idea of price.
To give you an idea, the exhaust i have was approximately £500 from demon tweeks. It is a TRC carbon though. The stainless was roughly £350 i think.
A new Yoshimura full system shouldn't cost £375, thats the cost of an end can....from my research expect to pay over £1000! Unless the SV system is substantially cheaper, it seems cheap/dodgy to me.
In terms of remap, usually you will be fine without one after fitting a can, but a remap may help to smooth things out and to possibly get the best of it. With a full system you will need a remap. You could use a power commander, but it would be cheaper to contact Steve-Jordans(SV650Racer)

Morning all,
These are discounted items and are shipped in through the states, with the Dollar so low at the moment that is why they are selling cheap. I got a quote for a full carbon system and it was £446, slip on can was £223.
They always have been cheap for exhausts but have a good reputation.
These are the other items I was quoted on
Honda CBR 600 RR 2005/2006, Yoshimura RS-5, Carbon, Slip-On Exhaust (£294)
Honda CBR 600 RR 2005/2006, Yoshimura RS-5, Carbon, Full System (£514)
Suzuki SV 650 S 2003 onwards, Yoshimura TRS Stainless/Carbon, Slip On Exhaust (£223)
Suzuki SV 650 S 2003 onwards, Yoshimura TRS Stainless/Carbon, Full System (£426)
Suzuki SV 650 S 2003 onwards Yoshimura TRS Stainless Slip On (£224)
Suzuki SV 650 S 2003 onwards Yoshimura TRS Stainless Full System (£375)
Suzuki SV 650 S 2003 onwards, Yoshimura RS-3 Carbon, Slip On Exhaust (£257)
The company is called Universal Electronix, they are based in Milton Keynes.
They seem to be cheap accross the board.
I'll look accross the net to check some prices. I know Demon Tweeks are usually quite expensive anyway, but can't hurt to check.

As far as a new end can goes (from personal experience)i would,nt look any further than blue flames multicoloured titanium tri oval evo can.Sounds the absolute mutts n**ts (especially with both baffles removed)it also looks the biz and blue flame claim it gives on average 4.9bhp more than most other cans and 6.1bhp when turned into a race can ie,baffles removed. At the moment blue flame are selling them at around£340,also a k&n airfilter would help compliment it,hope this helps.

Why not look into importing one yourself, thats what i did. Without the figures to hand mine cost circa £250 including customs duty and carrier 'handling charge'. The SS would of been it least £50 less than that.
I have a friend in California, which made things easier for me, but american ebay has some bargains.
Why not check if you can get a TRC for the SV, from what i was told its the newest design, with the greatest heat dissipation, HP and lightest. Its the one the Yoshi-gsxr team use in the states.

I cant seem to find the TRC for the SV.
I have thought about buying from the states myself, but having asked dealers over there they are not willing to mark the item down as a gift.
Doh!!!

Customs isn't that bad...roughly 20%.
TBH the whole marking as a 'gift' is old hat and customs are wise to it. I am also pretty certain that over a threshold(£30?) they charge you regardless. Just budget £50 or less depending on what you buy, for customs.

Just had a look on ebay us also, can only seem to find a company that sells them a grand total of about 20 quid cheaper.

Thats possibly why Northwind was as impressed with his Yoshi. TRC and the RS series cans are Yoshimura America made..no where near the quality of the Pop Yoshimura Japan stuff.

Hi,
I see you work/run a bike shop.
What would your advice be?
I think I prefer the style of the Yoshimura cans, not too keen on the blue flame ones looking at them.
Any help or advice would be appreciated.

Well I sell all makes of exhausts so dont see my opinion as biased in any way.
Dont over look the Scorpian exhausts. Very good quality and prices.
Blue Flame - had a few fit issues with them when we used to sell them.
Yoshimura - alongside Ackropovic they are one of the best makes of exhaust out there. USA spec isnt a good as the Japanese stuff.
M4 will make the best power for your bike.
Even though a manufacturer of exhausts says you dont need a remap or rejet its always worth getting a fueling run on a dyno done anyway. Unless your buying purely on looks or sound, it is worth ensuring the fueling is right as every bike varies so much when it comes to mapping. Its also worth it to maximise performance having spent the money on an exhaust.

I'm not after massive power gains as i have my CBR for power.
What sort of prices would i be looking at for scorpion, Akrapovic or Japanese Yoshimura exhausts.
I have heard the US ones are not as good, but if i keep on top of maintenance would i notice any difference?
Thanks for an informative answer

The US made Yoshimuras are just not aswell made IMHO. The welds arent as neat and neither is the carbon as strong. I have seen a few of the TRC carbon coned ones split on the ends, it seems very brittle.
Scorpian ones such as the Street Extreme are great and are about £281.49 dependant on finish and come with a carbon end cap option - titanium with carbon end £449!

The Japanese Yoshi cans are about £450 upwards dependant on finish. Ackropovic £300 upwards dependant on style/finish.

I've looked at the street extremes before, i dont like stubby exhausts, they just dont look right.
What models of the Japanses Yoshimura are available, and out of interest do they do the new shape RS-5 for the 2005 CBR 600 RR (I've attached a photo of the shape)
Thanks again

For the 2005 model they do one for £533 in full carbon. We do 10% off this price.
The other available Jap spec one is the GP force one at £531 for a Titanium one. They dont do this one in carbon. It does come with EEC approval though and a baffle.
The US spec ones cant gain EEC approval hence they are race use only.

I'd rather have a baffle i think, just to be safe if the plod pull me over.
The GP force one looks cool in titanium, i presume thats just the end can.
Do you do fitting on these?
The CBR wont be for a little while.
The SV may be closer (after xmas) what is available for that?
Sorry to keep asking.

Hi yes we do fitting and dyno setup etc. If you have that all done then we do 15% off the Yoshi price.
That is just an end can yes.
The SV they do a Tri Oval slip on in carbon for £484, again less 15% if you have fitting. Dyno setup to remap fully the stock ECU is £120.

Well thanks for that information, it is really useful, i see your based in Surrey, its a little out of the way for me. I live in suffolk.
But i have relatives in London, so could probably sort something out.
Just as a matter of interest would i be able to keep the stock can/cans when they have been removed, just so i can sell on or keep to return to standard if needs be for some reason.
Thanks

A few people have done that, stayed local and made a trip out of it.
Yes you can have the stock ones back by all means!. We seem to gather uncollected ones!!.

Although i havn't even fitted my US Yoshi yet, it seems really well put together. All the riveting/welds seem as good as any i have seen. Of course it may fall apart over time, but thats true for any exhaust. TBH though i'm not worried at all, it has a lifetime warranty from the official dealer i got it from.
For half the price of buying the equivalent in England(including shipping/customs) i think its more than worthwhile.
