Hi All,
Just a quick one, I'm just running in my second bike after falling off the first one and I've done 200 miles since Saturday and need to work out when to book it in for service, so my question is how picky are they about the 600 mile thing? is it + or minus 50 or so miles etc or is it like the price is right, can be x amount under but not a single one over heh.
anyhow, sorry for the silly question just making sure I get it right.

So long as you don't go loads over, they will be fine about stamping the book. They want your future custom, after all. I'd not let it get over 750, but obviously try and get it in as near as possible. No real harm in getting it done a bit early if you have a big trip planned, the oil change will be necessary and anything that is likely to of shaken itself loose will have probably done so already by, say, 450 miles (just plucking a figure out of the air, I'm sure if someone else knows different they'll chip in).

Recently had engine rebuilt and had to run it in again. I did my own oil n filter change at 730, and it's been fine :) as for service history ... pah! I'm gonna be doing most of the services on it myself in future, and I'm running this sucker into the ground anyway, so when it comes time to get shut, they can have all the receipts I'll have collected. Not sure how picky garages are though, but as Ceri JC says ... get it done as close to 600 as possible ;-) I only had to do mine at 730 cos parts I'd ordered to do at 630 never arrived, and I had another 100 mile commute to do before I could do the work.

Cool, thanks for the replies, I've been told the first service is only labour free at the purchasing garage so I've got a 70 mile trip to drop it back so wasn't sure how accurate I had to be with my forecasting :)
The slightly frustrating thing this time about running it in is I know how much more there is in there and can't wait to get my hands on it, but I've been really good and will keep to it as I want to take care of it. plus the time of year is such that can't use much more if i wanted to anyway.

anyhow, thanks for the replies. :p

I booked the bikes first service the week I picked it up from the dealer lol ......mine had about 680 when i took it in.

EDIT:However as soon as you get it over 600 miles does not mean you can start beasting it about everywhere. Wait until it has been serviced as they have a different oil in for the first 600 and there will be alot of engine shavings about until the oil is changed.
