View Full Version : Mail Scam
Can you circulate this around especially as Xmas is fast approaching - it has been confirmed by Royal Mail. The Trading Standards Office are making people aware of the following scam:
A card is posted through your door from a company called PDS (Parcel Delivery Service) suggesting that they were unable to deliver a parcel and that you need to contact them on 0906 6611911 (a premium rate number). DO NOT call this number, as this is a mail scam originating from Belize.
If you call the number and you start to hear a recorded message you will already have been billed £15 for the phone call.
If you do receive a card with these details, then please contact Royal Mail Fraud on 02072396655 or ICSTIS (the premium rate service regulator)

There's another one too. You pay for postage, pop your letter in a little red box and then the postal workers decide that work sucks and go and play garden bowls

Yeah, but if you read that link, or this one, also found amongst others on Google, you'll see it was shut down on the number specified back in December 2005, rendering this yet another of those wasteful hoaxes cluttering up our mail servers and forums:

you'd think that as it had registered a number, and money was changin hands, they could easily hunt them down with a large pack of lions

You're getting close!
Doesn't everyone just have all premium rate calls barred by their service provider in the first place? Who needs to call a premium rate number? At least then you're only at risk of being stung by up to 10ppm.
