I am getting more paranoid about leaving my bike places so I want to buy a chain to lock it to things if i have to leave it out and about.

I have got as far as working out Almax are the best chains but what length is suitable?
Will and metre do or is 1.5metres better?

With a metre will i struggle to find things small enough or close enough to strap to?

1.5m, or even 2m, is better.

Yes, probably.

Thanks, will go for 1.5m series 3 Almax. Probably a good compromise in security and portability.

1m almax fits under seat nicely and works great with street post etc :thumleft: but chaining up in busy bike bays can be tricky as need to park at 90 tight to curb and lined up with post ](*,),

I would go for 1.5m ;)

Anything smaller than 1.5m and you will spend ages manoeuvring close enough. I've got a 2m 17mm Pragmasis, wish it was longer sometimes!

The advice with chains always seems to be to try and avoid them sitting on the ground (from security perspective) so longer is not necessarily better. That said a chain that won't reach anything is no use at all. Guess it depends where it's going to be used.

Do you know if the 1.5ms fit in the storage box though by anychance?

It should as these almax city chains are very flexible and folds into small space. When I have my 1m chain in storage, there is still enough room for a disc lock, tool kit, pliers, allen key set + room to spare. so I guess without disc lock etc in there the 1.5m should fit nicely :D

The trick is to feed the chain lock housing in undeer the seat lock bits first, then the rest of the chain should fold nicely into place :D

maybe ask the shop if you can try it out first?
