when you get to arrochar head towards helensburgh instead of tarbet along A814 (wibbly wobbly road) then left at round about left at next roundabout and go over military road at end of military road turn left and you will end up back in tarbet. would be a shame to miss the best road in the area. dont think I will make it as I have a few adjustments to make on bike and my chain is not too healthy

Do you mean Glen Fruin Road?

not glen fruin.

when you arrive in arrochar turn right after shops past pit stop cafe it goes alongside gareloch.

the military road goes from a82 over to naval base. its lovely and smooth. great sweeping corners. great to really crank it open.

glen fruin is ok but rubbish surface

That would mean missing out the top part of the A84.
Someone told me that the A84 was really good and has lots of flip flop twisties. But I don't know whether it is the part north or south of Callander. Anyone know?

you mean dukes pass. you can do that too. basically after you have done wibbly wobbly and military road you end up back on a82 turn left you end up in tarbet and turn right which takes you on a twisty road along to crainlarich then right towards lochearnhead (always police there) at kilmahog turn right towards elizabeth country park or something. thats dukes pass which will bring you into aberfoyle. leave aberfoyle turn left at roundabout which will take you to callendar or straight to stirling.

Takes me about 2.5 or 3 hours to get to Oban. Im guess it'll take about 5 or 6 hours for the rest, taking breaks etc. So that'll be 7pm at the latest so shouldn't be too bad

But you're probably right

Did the space time continuum change the date? It's the 21st today....enjoy the ride. Wet here.

Nobody turned up so I headed off on my own. The further west I got the wetter it got:(
Which wasn't good because my front tyre doesn't have much tread left. Had a few dodgy moments. One on a fast corner, got a slight tank-slapper. Then got another one on a straight as I went over a shiny join in the tarmac. Got to the green welly, had some soup to warm up, then thought sod it I'm heading home.
Couldn't enjoy it in the wet. And I wanted to do those new roads when it was dry so I could really push it.

Some other time........
