On a serious note, yes mate, quite often when I look at my kids. It's one of the best feelings in the world.
Conversley, spurned or lost love can be the worst, been there done that.

Big, manly hugs all 'round if it's the latter,
you big softy girl if it's the former!

Yeah...sucks big time. You just want to go all sulky, petulant & punch walls.

Try stoking a big fire in your garden this evening & drink some nice chilled beer looking on it as cloud with a silver lining....somehow.

Sorry, I know I'll burn in hell, but I couldn't resist.

Well Razor, just had my fire & boutielle de vin rouge to exorcise the girl-demon....didn't work, just scared the cat. So ignore my earlier advice.

When I figure out the answer to the question, "Why not me?/What haven't I got?" I'll let you know....I'm hoping the answer lies in the Directors Cut of Return of the King....

y'know - the power of love

it's a funny ol' game.
it can make one man weep
yet, another man sing.
that's the power of love

JRR Tolkein was a wise man.

The spurned lover is Frodo Baggins. The object of his affection, funnily enough, is the ring. Good symbolism. Frodo is spellbound by the ring just as the spurned lover is infatuated by the spurner. Frodo tossed the ring into some pit in Mordor to get over his infatuation lest he become a bitter & twisted individual conusmed by greed & hatred (Gollum). Therefore the answer lies in symbollicaly ridding yourself of your spurner....

maybe a huge fire to burn old photos etc? I was right with my first response.

Right, if someone could lock my account until morning that'll do nicely, as I've obviously had too much peeve.

That, Dirk, is one of the soundest things you have ever said. And Lord of the Rings is ace too. If I were a girl, I'd want to do that with you.

I have been there, had the heartache (unless you meant literally burst?). Its the worst thing in the world, but time eases the pain.

I don't mean in a bad way, I mean have you ever met someone that made you feel like your heart would swell and burst. Somebody who made you feel like the only person on the planet that mattered.

Everybody needs that good lovin'.

Many a time, mostly when being beasted by a RM corporal :(

Several times after seeing my ex looking absolutely stunningly beautiful after I ditched her for stupid, selfish reasons.

Done that too. And not just in a relationship, I've had the same effect from really good friends, just from that incredibly strong, rare bond you can get sometimes... It's great. Doesn't happen often though, it's one not to be wasted.

Has anybody seriously ever thought their heart would burst?

There was a time on holiday when I'd gone for an explore & realized I'd kind of lost track of the time (playing chess with a Swedish cake maker in the middle of nowhere). Decided to J*g back to the hotel - down one side of the valley and back up the other - purely due to the reasoning we 'weren't that high up anymore' (right a mere 2700m as opposed to 3500 )
