Scotland must be the new outer darkness.

I had always suspected this, and its nice to live on the borders with the north.

Actually this could well be my fault. I was at the Lowry a couple of weeks ago and on the model to show your interpretations of the north and south regions made a line from about Cardiff to about Norwich. Sorry.

It still amuses me, when leaving London, to see roadsigns on the Motorway stating "The North". But they never actually tell you when you get there.

Perhaps the divide is a place where the signs saying The North meet with the roadsigns saying The South. Or the middle point between them.

Manchester has never seen being the midlands in its life.

Midlands is birmingham to chesterfield, anything south of birmingham is south west/east.....any north of chesterfield is north/yorkshire.

All in my opinion of course lol

I hate it when people call Manchester North.... Newcastle is north! Manchester is Midlands. Bah! I know many a person from the wrong side of the Pennines (Yorkshire would be the right side for those of you not in the know) that would beat you to within an inch of your life for even suggesting that!!!!
If you paid me some hush money I'll keep this post from them ;);)

It's all relative. When I was at uni in Portsmouth, everywhere was "up North". And living in Reading, I still infuriate people by saying that Birmingham is "up North".

You're all just a load of southern shandy drinkers to me. Aberdeen is the North, Galashiels is the South ;)
