Riding home earlier - picture the scene ...

Car pulling out of a carpark - you know one of the little carparks where you have a row of about 5-6 shops, basically straddling the pavement waiting for a gap in the traffic ...

Presumably blind bloke 'scanning' his way forward with white stick ... sure he is keeping it on the path, probably walked that every day of his life for the past ?? years ... but he can't be expecting that MPV there ... I wonder .. ...

I could see the trajectory was good ... by estimated time of impact, I had passed ... I had to gaze in my mirrors to see the outcome ... sure enough the blind bloke had ploughed straight into the side of the MPV ... him and his stick scraping down the side as he rolls along it ... :o

I know it's wrong, but I found it funny coz I could just see it coming - my bad  ...

Anyway, if you owned the MPV that presumably could be all scratched up now, possibly even dented, would you be peeved???!!?

I know the poor blind bloke can't be blamed, but I would be most p1ssed if I owned the car, am I a bad person!?! :(

I think its a driver/riders responsibility to be alert to issues like this.

Its covered in the highway code and within the Theory Test as to what different sticks mean and the respect that should be given to each one.

If I was about to drive over a pavement, a pedestrian has right of way, if I can see a blind person coming you would be alert and predict the outcome and I would hope stop.

However it is slightly amusing :smt045:-D please god dont punish me[-o<

should have beeped methinks.. definately driver's fault being on the pavement in my eyes.

(still amusing though..)

Poor sod, one of those banging of knee and head moments in quick succesion. You should be all ashamed if you have as much as emitted a titter.

Ok, so most are with me finding the funny side as a spectator, :takeabow: but who would have spat feathers if it were their car?

I would of been ****ed off, if there was any damage. Although i guess if i were illegally parked then it would not be as bad. If i was parked legally, i would try and sue for the cost of repairs.

Probably would of taken his dog, as a form of reparation. :)

always keep a long pointed stick in the car for just such an occasion

The car wasn't parked, it had just pulled out of a carpark, stationary, but straddling the pavement waiting for a gap in the traffic so they could pull out.

No dog .. a dog would have probably prevented this incident .. :smt045

I guess that this is at least proof the bloke WAS blind, not trying to pull a fast one ;)

No sympathy, if you're blocking the pavement and a pedestrian comes along you should move, blind or not. I've got no idea what the legal position is, mind, but as far as I'm concerned an inconsiderate t****r's just been taught a lesson ;)
