... I'm looking to get a new (to me) car and have been eyeing up the Accord.

Either a 2l or maybe 2.4TypeS from 2003/4 most likely.

Anyone got/had one? Maybe give me a bit of feedback. Real world fuel consumption, reliability, costs, depreciation etc.

Would be looking at travelling to central belt or a little further for a more choice and better priced example. Seen a few on websites but before i go any further wanted a little backup knowledge.

Ta in advance.

As with all H***as, you immediately become 73 and have to wear a brown cardigan.

I thought in a recent survey that only middle ages gays drove them?

Accord aimed at the middle aged driver who has a problem accepting the fact.;)

A friend and my brother in law both have 2.0 VTEC Accords. They are a comfy, well equipped and reliable motor.

They are also very quick and pretty handy in the bends. Not an old man's car, but has an old man's image.

I sniff a potential customer right there!;):p

My son had an immaculate 1998 2.2 Prelude until someone wrote it off.

As a replacement he got a 2003 2.4 type S Accord and absolutely loves it, the power is a lot more linear than the Prelude and is deceptivey fast.

He regularly gets 35mpg using it for his commute. Its a bit of a wolf in sheeps clothing with build quality and finish beyond comparison.

Get one, you will not be disapointed. PM me your email details and I'll get him to contact you.

I briefly owned a Honda Civic Aerodeck ... leather trim, alloys, full electric pack ... beautiful car ... until you drove it ... "deceptively slow" springs to mind :( got it cos I thought it would have slightly more "boot space" than my Mondeo ... actually I think you could probably actually fit more in the boot of a Mondeo! It also had an automatic gearbox that was nice but the ratios weren't built for anything except pootling around town to collect one's pension ... basically, it looked very nice, and was a very smooth sedate car to drive ... WWWAAAAAAYYYYY TOO SEDATE.

That's the one i mean. 35mpg is a decent saving over mine at the moment, and prices seem reasonable for such an esteemed car (despite the slagging, keep it coming guys - i like a good laugh:p). The car press seem to reflect your thoughts on build quality. That's a nice example.

Sending a PM to you, thanks :smt023

I had a diesel accord for a few months, cracking motorway muncher. Loved that electric rear hatch(estate).
