Registered & had my first dentist appointment today.

It started off well, chatting to the (pretty polish) dentist but turned into Laurence Olivier in Marathon Man.

That scraper thingy they use: OUCH!!!!!!! Half way thru, I had to ask her to stop - which isn't easy with a mouth full of spit, a dentist mirror & some implement that was most recently in the movies in the Evil Dead trilogy.

It was 12 years since my last check up, I wonder why?

You've been walking past for 12 years waiting for the 'right moment' to speak to her? ;)

I used to have to go to the pub the night before a visit to the dentist. Just to make sure his hands would not be shaking in the morning.

Seriously, my dentist actually recruited me to his practice in the pub.

Only cost £20 for a check up, spit & polish & a bottle of mouth wash.

Easy on the wallet - it's just the 30 minutes in the chair with Torquemada....

I may go a bit moer to the dentist now that I've had the hard part done.

+1, my mouth sets off the metal detectors at the airport. I have 1 root filling (actually have 5) that includes the reamer that snapped as they were cleaning out the root. The dentist took the view that if it was in there that tight that it can snap a steel reamer, then there it must be a tighter fit than the filling material they would stick in once the cleaning out was complete.

What he really meant was That there is no way I can get that out without removing the tooth (Or what was left of the tooth)

About 7 months ago I went to the dentist for the first time in over 7 years (basically, since I was last living at home & my parents made me go  ) - nothing wrong just needed cleaning!

And on my next visit a month ago no cleaning really needed either :p

My old dentist in St Helens once turned at the surgery with blood dripping off his ear and proceeded to give me a check up, a couple of hours later I was contacted by the surgery and told there would be no charge for treatment, apparently he got into fight in the car park and was arrested shortly after I left the surgery, and I was asked to keep it to myself, he has since been struck off for various irregularities in the accounts. Its tough up north you know. ;) :D
