View Full Version : New Phone time again.
Now its getting to that time again and my phone contact is going to be up soon, so need to see whats the next best hot thing.
At the moment I'm looking at the following -
Nokia N95 - All singing all dancing smartphone.
Sony Erricson P1i - they all new smartphone, looks nice and shinny.
iPhone - The snazzy phone for the fashion ******.
Currently I have a XDA mini S (HTC Wizard), smart phone running Windows Mobile 5, I love all the features of a PDA style phone. Plus lots of good ways for me to keep notes and keep track of things due to my awful memory. Plus I have Tom Tom as my sense of direction is terrible, though I'm OK once I've do a route. Main thing I hate about it is how awful the camera is...
So any other ideas, or any recommendations to the phones I'm looking at.
Suzi Perry reviewd the iphone on C5 yesterday - it's apparently only got a 2megapixel camera, no video recording & a snazzy screen that's hard to dial numbers on.
...oh and it's an Apple so therefore more evil than Microsoft crossed with Pol Pot.

The iPhone is nothing more than a fancy gadget with some eventually usable functions thrown in to justify being on the market. Personal opinion only, of course.
The HTC itouch or Itouch 2
If you get it from buymobilephones.net you get a PS3 or Xbox360 for not a lot of money too..... (i.m getting a 6300 and PS3 for 39.99)
And no I dont work for them....

I'm very happy with my N95. Battery isn't great tbh, but that's my only criticism.
I haven't used Nokia for a long time after there flaky phones cheesed me off one time to many... I think I would need to try it first.

Q: Does this mean the XDA "might" be on offer? I'm in the market for some bike-compatible TomTom, ya see :)

Well I'm getting it replaced to, as its faulty, just before the contact runs out too... so it will be lovely and new if I'm lucky.

Good plan. Like it.
What about if you sell it anyway and I'm lucky? :smt045
Let me know if you go down that road....no pun intended. ;)
My razr was stolen on Sat night. *sigh* Having to revert to my previous phone when my new sim card comes through. It doesn't even have a camera... :smt088 (Not due for an upgrade yet)
Guard your next one with your life Grinch... guard it with your life...
;)
Personally ive been looking and i like the p1i out of the three... firstly because orange dont have it to stick their own silly backward unhelpful and unstable software on it, secondly, ive heard some not so good things about the batterylife on n95 and well the iphone isnt a phone, its an mp3 player thats got the ability to make phone calls...
the p1i is a phone with other features rather then the phone being 2nd...
Not sure who your provider is (im guessing o2 as you have the iphone listed) but with an upgrade you ***may*** have a 14 day cooling off period where you can return the phone so you ***Could*** test to see which one you like! ( not 100% on this with upgrades so check before you do it!)

You'll have PM in a couple of mins. ;) I don't want to derail Grinch's thread or he'll throw a strop!
I'm looking at a new phone at the moment as well. The P1 looks pretty good, have to have a poke at it over the weekend :)
I am rather draw to the P1i it looks good too, my lodger has one, though he's a bit miffed as the photo messaging is giving him grief.

If you want a good camera don't get the t-mobile mda vario 2. It's lovely and with 2 megapixels I hoped it would be a jump up from the old mda's 1.3 megapixels, but it actually seems worse. But nothing else has a free broadband connection for email and surfing in such a handy package, so I can live with that.
iPhone... I really want one, and i'm not exactly a fashion *****.
The interface is fantastic (I have had a play with an ipod touch) and the combination of wi-fi internet and ipod seals the deal for me. (usually i just want a mobile that texts and calls but i'm quite taken with this, i think it will 'just work')
