You know that fluid motion you work at for years, you stop, flick off the ignition, flick the stand out with the heel of your left boot while you tilt the bike to the left at the same time?

Well today the boot flick didn't catch the stand, my well choreographed move went wrong and the bike ended up on it's left side on top of me...

It was a petrol station so I kept the helmet on and ear plugs in, to shut out the laughter, that is all...

Bummer.
I did this outside a bar on a warm summers evening. 6 feet from a whole bar of people on a balcony with a beer. Bugger.

I can beat that. Yesterday I fell off my pusbike right by a bus stop full of spotty teenagers waiting to get the bus to work. They laughed, I swore.

its no consolation but we've all done it or stalled and then lost balance, well i have:)

This is all very reassuring indeed. I'm pleased no-one is truly embarrassed so much to not mention their 'moments' ;)

--- My clock currently says 99 miles since saturday and I've (so far) avoided anything daft / unplanned (apart from this morning when I kicked the stand down and thought......why's that stalled...?). Turns out in the manual it says...... :smt045

Continue with the You've Been Framed-type incidents please.

Clip-ons? Been there, done that, in front of a 100+ people queue.

Aye, but that wasnt the cause of the fall. I hadnt done the rear wheel quick release up tight enough and my winter hack bike is a bit of a bodge of parts to get it to work and I went to pedal away from a junction and the wheel slipped and jambed against the frame and I stopped rather quickly...

yep.. I nearly do it when the top of my boot gets cought on the footpeg slider whilst pulling away at junctions or at the traffic lights.

(Ignoring the 4 times I went over on my DAS... and the once the instructor had to pick the bike up off me)

I dropped Roger onto ArtyLady's bike in a busy petrol station once... that wasn't even remotely embarrassing... nope... no way at all... luckily all his 'sticky-outtie-bits' (f'nar) slotted through all of her bike's gaps (ooer) so did no damage.

Or the time I parked up outside my house only to suddenly find myself standing over my downed bike with a foot either side...:smt102

OR the time I didn't check his sidestand was secure before walking off as he warmed up only to hear a crunch... turned round to see Roger lying against my car bonnet... 8-[

OR the time in a gravel pub carpark where i stepped in a pothole and he went over... \\:D/

OR the time... *voice fades off into the distance*

I don't tend to have a problem with clipless pedals, I usually go over the handlebars - last two occasions have been the front wheel on the mountain bike digging in to very deep mud or sand.

Worst one was riding home from swimming when I was a nipper - had my tessie bag with my towel and swimmers on the right hand dropped handlebar, swung left into a tight corner, bag went in the wheel and over I went.:oops::oops:

Nah, I realised long ago that if I ever tried that, I'd end up underneath the bike in a petrol station :smt045

You just always have to do that belt and braces kick to confirm the stand is locked down in position. Shame on yer Razor.:p

Stopped at a set of light one foot down, no problems turned to check tail bag and leaned that way. ah now you tell me you have to stick the foot down on the side your leaning on. Still no one saw me. mid day multi lane set of lights at lunch time. DOH.

Rolled up outside, put it into neutral, reached for keys with my left hand as putting the stand down and caught the gear lever with my leg just as putting weight onto the stand ... bugger!

No damage to my bike, I have some extreme crash bungs after the crash last year. They're almost as wide as my handle bars. So only a small nick on the left bar end mirror
