Looking for a pillion intercom. Would be a bonus if I could plug in ipod/satnav/ possibly phone but not essential. They either seem to be cheapy cheap or about £200? Any recommendations around/up to £50

I would recommend a high level can and a seat cowl :smt077

Tried using a cheap one (lidl IIRC), hated it, it was distracting (daft bint asking silly questions in the middle of corners), also didn't work with the mp3 and I missed my heavy metal. Also a very annoying feedback above 70mph.

not very helpful as they out of your budget but I got a pair of Blueant Interphone's for £142 on ebay, (rrp £149 each!) but they are so worth it, works with my phone for calls and music, my PDA for GPS and rider to pillion or even bike to bike 150m with earplugs in they are clear as a bell up to 80 and probably beyond to be honest.
From what I've read you do get what you pay for with intercoms, but just my opinion anyway, wouldn't be without my interphone now, just charging it for my run down to birmingham tomorrow, PDA with GPS for getting me there and then phone with music for on the way back :) perfick.

As Brettus has said you get what you pay for, go for a quality piece of kit and it will be useful the cheap stuff will frustrate you. Autocom works well, they may have bargins at the NEC, and occasionaly come up on ebay.

Now she wants her own bike :p so starcom is looking good, and I wont have to put up with her fidgeting on the back

When the kids are big enough you'll be able to plug them in too - and trust me, they really do fidget!

ive got an autocom, pillion, satnav mp3 phone..........wouldnt want em all on at the same time though, part of the pleasure of riding is getting away from all that 5hit. got it from the nec 2 yr ago, not the cheapest system but pretty good and the mic response is good, easy to set so that it doesnt open when you get some speed up

easy to get distracted by mindnumbing missus crap though.

amazingly without the intercom we can go for 90 mins without a rest, but with it on i get ,,,,,,,,,,,,,are we nearly there yet, , this is taking ages......ad lib as reqd after just 30 mins

Anyone know if the BlueAnt kit will work if it's bought from America? Is there any difference in this and the model sold over here apart from the power supply?

Will a universal power adaptor be ok or does it have a strange connection and need a genuine power supply? (If so I'll just get a standard voltage dropper)

Cheers

I bought the US version and it has a proprietary US charger but I just plug mine into a 240v shaver socket but any socket adapter would work fine. they charge through a PS2 looking port on the bottom that also doubles as the headset connector (hence the oddly shaped cable connector)

So you would need a voltage dropper/shaver socket or an official UK charger, correct?

No need to change the voltage, the supplied charger works with either voltage, and I use it in my 240v socket, i've got 110v too but tried it in the 240v to make sure, charged it twice in that one, works fine. so any US to UK plug adapter will work fine if you don't have a socket for it. cheapest option and makes so little difference to charging it.

hey why do you want to waste alot of your money on this product??

I had this system. I bought it at the end of january. but I was disappointed after using it. it was not like the one I was thinking to be. I thought they would have improved the quality. They haven’t – the quality of the conversation above 60 is not good. I will soon return it.:smt067

I dont like this product at all. I was facing many problems with this device, including the voice quality problem. When I went to return

this product (the interphone F4) Blueant were a nightmare to deal with. I would not recommend this product to anyone ? the voice quality

is pretty bad. Try a can and a string ? it would work better.

Some like it some don't. I have an Active Rider Duo system and it's great. I can make phone calls at well over a ton, it connects to my phone via the bluetooth dongle when I switch the bike on, is good for MP3s (I use in ear monitors for sounds quality) and the Mrs can warble on to me about what she wants to buy when we get to the shops (as that's the only time she'll get on the bike). I've disabled the auto mute function on the stereo line in so i can run my zumo in stereo through the autocom. They were very helpful when I rang them. Glad they have managed to stay afloat!

That active rider looks alright, I was going to go for the Starcomm Advance Kit be for me and Chezzah as a pillion so I could still attach music and the radio's for bike to bike, but just can't justify £180 at the moment so we be going without (I did just see one of these Active Rider Duo's on e-bay that went for £77 hmmm)

I got mine for £100 brand new when they were selling off their old stock (it was the single headset model but they bunged and extra headset in the box to make it the duo). Worth looking about to see if you can find some new old stock. RRP was £200 so it was 1/2 price.

Ive got an autocom and while the quality is first rate, i hate the supplied headphones, they velcro in your lid, rub my ears when riding, velcro comes off.
Better earphones would be better imo.

Everyone else has now moved onto the Autocom stuff. Not many on here sport the BlueAnt stuff. I have one but haven't gotten around to using it yet. It's one of my many projects! lol
