Former footballer Ian Wright has been charged with racially abusing a traffic warden. The "Victim" happens to be err....black?
Racism - one of the most misunderstood words in the English language.
This is a cut and paste:
Racism is commonly defined as a belief (http://encyclopedia.thefreedictionary.com/belief) or doctrine (http://encyclopedia.thefreedictionary.com/doctrine) where inherent biological differences among the various human (http://encyclopedia.thefreedictionary.com/human) races determine cultural or individual achievement, with a corollary that one's own race (http://encyclopedia.thefreedictionary.com/race) is superior and has the right to rule others.[1] (http://encyclopedia.thefreedictionary.com/Racism#endnote_freedict) fear of foreigners (xenophobia (http://encyclopedia.thefreedictionary.com/xenophobia)), views or preferences against interbreeding of the races (miscegenation (http://encyclopedia.thefreedictionary.com/miscegenation)),[2] (http://encyclopedia.thefreedictionary.com/Racism#endnote_rf-2) and nationalism (http://encyclopedia.thefreedictionary.com/nationalism),[3] (http://encyclopedia.thefreedictionary.com/Racism#endnote_rf-3), and/or a generalization of a specific group of people (stereotype (http://encyclopedia.thefreedictionary.com/stereotype)); regardless of any explicit belief in superiority or inferiority embedded within such views or preferences. Racism has been used in attempts to justify social discrimination, racial segregation (http://encyclopedia.thefreedictionary.com/racial+segregation) and violence, including genocide (http://encyclopedia.thefreedictionary.com/genocide). Politicians are known to practice race-baiting in an effort to win constituents.
The term racist, when used to describe someone who supports racism, has been a pejorative (http://encyclopedia.thefreedictionary.com/pejorative) term since at least the 1940s, and the identification of a group or person as racist is nearly always controversial.
I've had many a debate about how people perceive racism, it's a good one to get people hot under the collar LOL.
is it ok for black people to use the N word......................?

I have seen some comments reported as being part of the conversation that took place and have to say they do not appear that offensive.
What would the view be if for example Ian had called the warden a "black c*nt."
Disclaimer:
The phrase used is for example purposes only and I do not in anyway condone the use of such language.

For my opinion, black c*nt isn't racist, seeing as Ian is black. But if he'd have said you African c*nt when Ian is Jamaican (or whatever is true), then that is racist.

Ha,who you think you are Viney/Keithd?:p
Alledgedly used the m****** word.
Monkey.
But he claims he just said, "bet your parents are proud of you coming to England to be a Traffic Warden instead of a Lawyer or something"
So the TW probably picked up the 'coming to England bit' & decided to play the race card IMHO

rasism is funny, well not funny haha, but funny odd.
it is ok for a black person to call a friend a n**** if the friends are cool with it. both parties are saying it a bonding thing, showing closeness etc.
when its used in a derogetery way, then it isnt ok.
i have spoke about this to alot of my black friends and they have told me that they would not be offended if i called them a n****, but not in a derogetery way.
BUT
i never would, i think its just too odd to use a word that so linked with the slave trade (i know how the word has been mutated into common useage.)
ALSO
if he said anything in a derogertry way that had a direct relation to skin colour then he should get done.
I am an Arsenal fan as well. lol

If the Police force that dealt with it is anything like mine, then the definition of a racist incident would come into play:
A racist incident is where ANY person perceives it to be racist, this means that even someone walking past who sees/hears things can report it as a racist incident.
Someone posted earlier about 2 black friends refering to each other by use of the "N" word. If a "white" person (who didn't know them), saw/heard this and decided to report it as "RACIST", and they percieve it to be a racist incident, then IT MUST be treated as such, regardless as to whether the actual persons involved do or not.
