No,I thought it was pretty good,
Pitty you think it's crap since you've now got my tickets to go see the lads.
I really enjoyed last nights programme. Pure comedy value, had me laughing out loud several times:D
It was funny - but it wasn't spontaneous (sic?).
It felt a bit like Vic & Bob's Big Night Out - every jokoe rehearsed 10 months in advance.
Would the BBC really allow them into a "lion/leopard/tiger" reserve with cars that had wood for doors or dead animals in the boot?
Would Richard Hammond have really decided to not take any weight off his car or was it planned?
Would he have then gone off on his own to cross a river - thinking the others would sink then sink himself?
Funny, but contrived.
I love it, had me creasing several times.......however...... Some of the things they do are stupid.
- Burning loads of crap on a fire, and no doubt leaving all the crap behind that they took off the cars.
- Making a damn mess of the salt flats, although they apparently had permission, the damage they did would take 200+ years to dissapear.
I'm no eco warrior complaining about clarkson every chance I get, but I sometimes think he take winding up th PC brigade to far.

i really like the show but tonights was ******
+1 The current series has shown a complete lack of imagination, just repeating stuff they done before - with a bit of a twist.

Nah, gotta disagree - Top Gear's one of the best things on the TV at the moment. It's certainly one of the only shows I make a concious effort to watch.

I really enjoyed it, yes its contrived and yes they are repeating stuff, but its still hugely watchable.
I'd rather my license fee went on Top Gear than on another series of stricly come celebrity dance off acamdemy or whatever sh*t they keep showing on prime time BBC1 on Saturday nights...

oh yes exacty.
I think its good, maybe not as good as a couple of series ago when they had all those races against cars and diff forms of transport.
still good fun though. i hope it keeps going. If you want to know about cars watch fith gear, if you want automotive entertainment watch top gear!

It's moved away from its original remit but hey it's fresh, entertaining, and funny, and that's enough for me!
Does bug me a bit though re the eco bit - i'd like to think that someone clears up the debris, etc at the end of the shoot, but sadly i suspect not...
Really. I thought tonight's was funny. That bit with the cow's head was laugh out loud stuff.
+1
I loved last night's top gear. OK, it was like the polar explorer one, but a bit different, but I loved the polar explorer one!
Stuffing May's car with meat: Genius, The beetle as punishment was funny, Hamsters emotional attachment to oliver...
I don't really care if it was a set up rather than real. They are characters on TV. No-one complains that Doctor Who isn't real, you just enjoy it for the spectacle.
Top gear is not a documentary!
I do agree that the burning of plastics and leaving tyre tracks behind was a bit crappy though...
Struck me as a bit pointless and too contrived.
Especially if it was anything like the polar one there was a fleet of Toyota Landcrusiers just out of shot which probably did more to drag the wrecks out of the primeval swamp than Hamlton ever did leaning on them.
I gave up half way through and went and made a phome call

I enjoy it, but its had three different programming details since it started... 1rst was just talking about cars, this was great. Then was re-designed to a bit of screwing about, pub talk, but also about cars, (I liked this one best). But the past 2 series ever since hammonds crash theres been hardly any cars, it mentions mabey one or two (except last nights special, obviously) then the last 80% is screwing about, yeah its great fun and I do enjoy it, but not as much as when they did 50% cars 50% screwing about... in saying that at maybe I'm just getting old at the grand age of 20
I think it is great telly and one of the only things that my licence is worth paying for.
Would I like to see more cars and bikes featured - YES! Would I like to see more reviews - YES! Do I think some of the things they do are pointless - YES!
But I love it and could watch another hour of it if they extended it. If you have freeview you can watch Top Gear almost every hour on 'Dave' channel 19 I think.
Watched the american adveture one last week - that is real comedy telly.

Absolute load of cobblers in my eyes.
The eco thing was a big no no for me..those salt flats looks pristine before hand so clearly when the boys went across it (plus the entourage following them), its now wrecked for years.
The meat and head (oo-er) - pointless. Lions/Tigers and Bears (oh my) smell 'fresh' meat - not 4 or 5 steaks slow roasted on an engine block smelling like a George Foremans demo counter
Best part of the show - super clear image of the moon on my new 40inch LCD TV :D and all the other wildlife footage that is now almost life size on my new TV. Nice.
I can't bear Clarkson so I don't watch it.

As always Mr Fizzwheel talks sense. With TG and LWD two hours of brain out TV,with no adverts no sponsers no phone vote no hassel
Anit-Establishment TV perfect.

Big Top Gear fan but got bored of last nights show. Dont mind them doing one of those competitions/treks in two smaller parts in the normal hours show but I lost interest two thirds of the way through. Prefer to see them larking about in new models and racing them round the track TBH.
I agree it's all set up and rehearsed but that's TV isn't it!
I normally like Top Gear but I was disappointed to watch an entire program of them being childish in a bunch of bangers. There's nothing wrong with their regular 20min features on silly races but an entire hour is just too much.
Although I eat meat, I wish animals didn't have to die for my eating pleasure and I draw the line at taking the **** with an animal carcass for entertainment's sake. :smt012
I used to love top gear but am going off it now... I want to hear about the latest cars, not see a wooden performance that makes it look like amature comedian...
A guy who writes sniffpetrol (http://www.sniffpetrol.com/category/not-advertisements/) and for Evo, also writes for top gear, and he's quite good... but i think they're pushing the limits of what's funny now. The odd sarcastic putdown would suffice.
I WANT TO SEE THE LATEST CARS!!! A good mix of supercars and real attainable cars. Not people thrashing out the same old jokes (what the hell was that boats in the channel about... yawn - they even used the same boats!!!). Its not as if there aren't enough new models out there.
I never thought i'd say it, but 5th gear was getting better than top gear towards the end of the series.
Must say that although its all scripted etc. it still made me laugh in places and enjoyable to watch and with long way down afterwards it makes a good two hours of watching. Its quite rare to have to time the toilet break in between the shows, no adverts is great.
