This is very true - bike is run in and is having it's 600-mile service on Friday.

I have absolutely promised my mate that i would see him and his kid on Saturday and as he works in the big smoke, I have no chance of doing it on Sunday instead.

Definitely count me out for this one..

hovis

also if this goes ahead, then i think we should have some good photos of it, only the wizards one from last weekend... would like to have a few gooduns to show my non-bike friends (which is essentially most people) what is good for them!

(sadly i don't own a digicam :( )

Alright, I'll be back Friday night, need to get a new rear on mine on Saturday and I'm out Saturday night near Weston...

Hovi5.. WHat are you thinking of?

Draper
07-11-07, 04:18 PM
haha ollie, sounds like a plan, i clearly have what it takes to be a model, i just choose not to follow that as my career... :)

those mid riding photos are pretty tasty too, i always wondered how they're done. Like did hovis just get someone to stand and take a photo as he passed?

May have filnally joined you all this weekend esp if the van at storey arms could have been added

but have to go to drapers home town the democratic republic of Wolves wher all the yam yams come from in the cage.

anyone got a decent route that doesnt involve the M4/M5 or M50

llandovery?

this is the saturday

those mid riding photos are pretty tasty too, i always wondered how they're done. Like did hovis just get someone to stand and take a photo as he passed? when you go on a bigger ride out. the leader will shoot off and get you all as you aproch him, i will take one of you saturday if you like

May have filnally joined you all this weekend esp if the van at storey arms could have been added

yup.......... its part of the route

Draper
07-11-07, 06:00 PM
ahh yeah hovis, i might take you up on that one, no worries if we dont get chance

and mr. jester, why the avoidance of the motorways? the route is dead simple using M4 to coldra, A449, A40, M50 and M5 at J2 then down Birmingham New Road

afraid i dont really know anyother route. Spose you could follow A449 all the way? as far as i know that should pass through wuster, kiddy, then onto wolves?

P.s. a good move, to wolves that is, cant beat abit of that

cos that route is boring as f@@k even in a cage

going up through brecon/leominster/bridgnorth

any recomendations on good bars ( else i'll have to go to the gifford mosh pit):smt062

Draper
07-11-07, 11:58 PM
you are a good man mr jester! the Giff is one of my spiritual homes, bloody class there with DJ John Silver on a friday night, haven't been there is a long time actually

Right for a saturday it's not the best, i like my thursday pound pint vars then oceana. But perhaps the civic for blastoff? the canal club has shut its rock night or whatever it was they had i think, unless they reopened. Little civic aint bad for a reasonably priced drink, and i like the selection of songs the dj will play on request (beatles, stranglers, stones, that sorta biz)

And yeah the motorway route is boring, it's a piece of **** (cept coldra, dont like hundreds crash there annually?) But it gets you there in 2hrs.. but brecon and bridgnorth does sound appetising

Draper

well there doesn't seem to be much activity here so i'm not sure what to do. I'd hate to get up at 8 and find that noone is going out...

but yes balls to it, i will alarm for 8, check here, tiddle around if nothing, then if it gets too late depending on tiredness i shall possibly head back to bed

i will be going out anyway i have decided, on the route we did last sat if no-one is coming

over and out

hovis
09-11-07, 11:18 PM
i dont think i will be out?

Draper
09-11-07, 11:20 PM
ahh right-o hovis, not to worry

if ollie fancies a stint then he can drop me a text or something

in that case not such an early start then, and i can try improve my cornering skills from shocking to very bad :p

hovis
09-11-07, 11:44 PM

Very windy but at least it aint raining!!

Draper

ended up meeting with ollie in newport then off through chepstow and monmouth and around there. not too sure of the exact route lol

was a nice run though, a few leaves on the floor, but apart from that it was a good run

oh yeah ended up in abergavenny, then off back home, good few bikes there and some what i think were westfields, pretty cool. nice one to ollie for showing me some more good roads

No problem fella! was good to get out again! :)

Mr Wiz, we went on the old A48 from Coldra in Newport to Chepstow, then out through tintern along the wye valley out to monmouth, then monmouth to raglan, onto aber all via some nice twisties! :)

how very quaint.. and there was me spending my saturday hooking up electrical items, ferrying myself up and down newport rd doing the sociable thing and finally meeting up with the missus for a quick bite to eat down the bay. I need to get my priorities sorted...

ps.) Bike has finally had it's post-sale service so she's offically 'run in'. Niiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiice.
