hang a poster up.
Slaughter a cow and leave the entrails strewn all over the house. Then he won't notice the walls so much.

Sounds like it needs a second coat, what surface did you paint over existing paint of wallpaper ?
If its paint it'll need sanding lightly and then another coat putting over it I expect, but let it dry before you do so emulsion dries pretty quickly so you might get time to give it another coat this evening.
If it were me I wouldnt be mad...

Pah! have more confidence in yourself woman! If you are changing the colour quite dramatically then it will take at least two and probably three coats. Go back with your roller and go over it again, bet it looks much better after two coats.
If it were me I wouldnt be mad...
have you met phil?:smt014

It may look patchy because of how it's drying if it ain't fully dry yet. Also I'm guessing you're looking at it with the lights on (seeing as it's dark outside) which can make it look worse.
If it still looks bad after a day, just give it another coat tomorrow and take the bulb out tonight :)

right guys.....stop winding the poor lady up
1... well done for you to attempt to decorate a room, at least it s the spare and yes, its probably drying and seems patchy...looking at it in daylight will probably make it look different
2 ...If your blokes a nice bloke...he'll wind you up for hours then say its not that bad and offer to help you finish it#
3...if he's an **** then carry on and finish it...take your time and prove to yourself you can do it
4....DIZZYBLONDE CAN DO IT--SO CAN YOU.....for being of the single parent variety you have to be a dab hand at DIY.decorating is easy if you take your time.....If I can lay laminate floor, help put in central heating, tile a bathroom and a kitchen, paint, wallpaper, build a fence, be a mum blah, blah, blah, you can do it

Take it from about a 30 degree angle to the wall not stnding directly in front of it and you should be able to get a decent shot of how bad it is...or isnt.

in the current climate DIY really does mean DIY... I find that doing it yourself gets a more satisfying result, your the one that can say 'i did that' and also the only one you shout at when its wrong....
besides Im Indoors lives at the other side of Halifax and wouldn't know one end of a paintbrush from the other, and, even though can strip a bike like lego and build it right back, runs to the opposite hill when required to do the dreaded DIY...although he will drill holes..cause when I try it for some reason the wall goes round!!!!!must be the girlie arms.

I do all my own decorating and quite often the first coat looks really awful until its dried. You can`t go far wrong with white depending on what you painted over, just whack another coat on it. All credit to you for even trying and if he decides to moan just go on strike or tell him to pay for a painter and decorator to come in an fix it!!! I charge £3.50 an hour plus a bit of bike maintenance, wallpapering is extra :D
PS: really daft question but you did use emulsion didn`t you???

:smt099 but because its white doesnt that mean it will make the room echoey anyway or is the thickness of the paint that makes a difference not the colour
i find B&Q own make of paint is pants, and if you are covering a blue wall with white paint (i think thats what i saw) it will take at least 3 coats
IMO
i think its best to pay a bit extra for the better makes

B&Q paint will be fine unless it's the value/budget stuff as that's a bit thin,
for a big colour change you will need a few coats of normal emulsion or you need to use base coat which will cover the darkest of colours with 1 coat

Even if it did dry patchy you probably wouldn't notice it as the colour underneath will be white as well whereas the first coat showed up as patchy cos the colour underneath was blue
You've got nothing to lose by giving it another coat of paint

if you use a roller, i can promise you another coat will look better, although it may still need more coats
are you painting a blue wall with white paint?
if so, you should have either got a tin of undercoat or durex 1 coat(which still may need 2-3 coats)
if you bring the wall to my house i will do it for you

Yep, go over it with another coat or two using a roller.
Whatever you do, don't go to the DIY shop and as for durex paint as a couple of people have suggested, I think they have something on the mind. You will need Dulux paint.

i wont allow my wife with a paint brush, the last time she glossed a door that thick that it took hours to sand the runn's out of the paintwork.
I have a friend who let his girlfriend paint the understairs cupboard in his absence.
She glossed it all at a cost of about £200 and various trips back to B&Q for more paint.
On the plus side its very easy to wipe down now, though when the sun shines into it you need sunglasses :smt040

Take the light bulb out and jump up and down on it, remove all traces of glass and hide all spare light bulbs.
I bet ya he don't go shopping and wont buy a light bulb.
As for the day keep him out of the room !
Only kidding hun, just give it another coat and it'll be fine, if it don't look right then it must be the paint that's off ;)

Well I've looked at the wall and it's not dissasterous.
No masking was done until her painter/decorator friend came round but luckily not too many sploges on the woodwork. The paint has just gone on very thinly so it'll need another 2 or 3 coats. Suppose it'll just spur me on to get the spare room sorted as it looks terrible now!!!
Anyway, I'm gonna take the pi55 outta her for a long time to come!!
