Good luck.
you have an obvious talent, but it is a very difficult career path ahead of you.
I have a family friend, who gave up his BT career to train as a photographer, did his degree and couldn't make a decent living with commercial photography. Went back and did a masters and now teaches for an American university instead.
See this (http://www.scad.edu/about/news/topstories/2007/110707.cfm)artical about Andrew to put you off Gloucester
Some very nice shots there.
Kudos for taking the plunge. I can speak from experience that it's a very scary thing, and hard to actually 'just do' unless you are pushed or supported in some way. ;)
If my mobility problems hadn't forced me into thinking of alternative I know I wouldn't have had the nerve, likewise friend of mine who runs her own costume company had tremendous support from friends and family to make the shift.
Tim's right, it's very, very hard to make big bucks out of anything artistic - just too many variables and luck/timing can play a huge part...
... that said, for 'just making a living', well, to do something you enjoy and get paid for it is one of the greatest things at the end of the day.
So much of your life is spent working, it's nice to get something more out of it than just bill payments. ;)
Best of luck to you.

Lol, thanks for your lovely comments guys!! :D We all want to be the best we can be and thats what i intend to do :D If i end up making mega money from it then great, but it's the enjoyment i get from it, and i love seeing peoples reactions when i give them a picture of themselves/kids/pets, it amkes it all worth while :D.
They're really great pics! I can imagine them hanging on people's wall. :)
Good luck Sammy!
Good luck to you......i would love to do similar but I'm gutless lol

I use a Canon 400D, i have a few lenses but saving up for a 400mm IS lens that i want to get my hands on!
I had another EOS camera before this one but it was nowhere near the same quality.
Well done Sam, but dont forget turning a hobby into a buisness could spoil your love of photography, having said that I honestly wish you all the very best of luck, you,ve obviously got an eye for it and the talent goes without saying, you,ll do well.
Good luck

superb.!
pm blue pete- he was a photographer.
you can give him advice- you are better than him !!!
ace pics.
Friggin amazin photo's they are. As has been said, it takes an artistic eye to see a good photo opportunity in something as bland as a railway line or bunch of trees. Coolio in indeed.
Any chance you can get a photo of me riding, and make me look like im not a wobbly wobbler?
Not even the master David Bailey has enough talent for that.
Nice one Sammy good for you :D i think you take some amazing photos - looking forward to seeing you in action on Friday

Thanks Guys!! :D
Good luck Sam - really hope it works out for you.
I'm a big believer in following your dreams... it's not always easy to know when to do it, but there's a lot to be said for just taking the plunge and getting on with it! If you don't try, you'll never know. (The 'being skint' bit sucks... but with any luck it will pass).

I can see a range of Samnooshka cards being produced. Mr. Hallmark won't know what hit him! Good luck with the project.
trackphotos.co.uk were at cadwell this weekend.......for a cd of 30 photos it was £30 .......:), you will get your new lense quickly if you do this on just weekend, they were making a killing
A friend of mine has just given up photography and gone back to work after a couple of years and hes good, so best of luck Sammy
Good luck with the new venture. You obviously have a talent there, I was imagining some of those photos on my wall at home.:D
Those photos really are very very good! I wish you all the best with this venture, other people have pointed out how hard it is to make it being self employed, and there's plenty of truth in that. But the pay offs are there to be had. If you never try, you'll never know how well it could have gone;)
Once again, the very best of luck!
