I will be going, went last year for the first time and it was amazing. Had a brilliant weekend. Atmosphere was great and hotel was full of bikers, even though it was not right amongst the action, out a bit in Limavady. Met some great people.

It's good to plan ahead :smt003 Particularily for the TT and NW, accomodation books up early I gather. I'm well up for it next year though, how about an Ecosse mission?

I've tried to book for the TT a year in advance with no luck. The ferry isn't really a problem, it's b&b/hotels that are a nightmare. :(

An Ecosse NW Rideout sounds fab.

Could maybe get the Irish lads to show us a few nice routes like the North Coastal road. From what I've seen it's right up with the best. Unfortunately i hadnt heard about it when i took the bike touring there a few years back, although everywhere we went was great.

Happy days! 200mile run on a hot, hot day exploring new roads. Arrive, pitch tent. Crack open a beer - consume and sunbathe.

flex, yep, we should defo organise a meet up, the thurs night after practice would be good and we can organise a rideout as well for maybe the friday or sunday

am gonna shell out this time for tickets for the main stand at the start finish line since at least you can follow the race on the big telly's instead of watching for the helicopter coming round then 30 secs later, the bikes are gone

Once again I'm thinking of going to the TT (i have free accomodation) but i doesn't hold the appeal it did, not after DJ passing away... Shame if he was still here and riding i'd be there in a minute

Already booked for next year. Just takes a wee phone call to the usual B&B a month prior to the weekend to get a bed for a couple days. Sail out of Troon to Larne, then back to Larne. From Larne to the track takes 1.5 hours. On that weekend, the cops are over active up in the north, don't take any prisoners, and issue speeding fines with points like sweeties. They don't take excuses, just money...

** Note - the Northern Ireland cops use unmarked V6 Ford mondeos, BMW M5's , and unmarked camera vans. So no speeding if you go over......

Just started working for an Irish haulage firm, so will be tramping to and from Ireland now on a regular basis. If you want a bike or two put onto a double deck trailer, and stored prior to the event, let me know..

Been going over for years, when you come off ferry in Belfast or Larne head on up the A2 coast road all the way to Portrush. Will take a baseball bat to get the smile off your face. ;)
We have a villa booked every year in Ballycastle, sleeps 12 and works out next year at £62 each for the week. Ferry was booked as soon as race day date was up, £60 for rider and bike. Price goes up as date gets nearer. Have fun.

You are in luck next year then, date for 2008 is Sat 17th May.

The International North West 200 is Ireland’s largest outdoor sporting event, attracting crowds in excess of 150,000 as well as the biggest names in the sport including Michael Rutter, Steve Plater and John McGuinness. Taking place on the 17th May 2008, the International North West 200 circuit runs between the towns of Portrush, Portstewart and Coleraine – an area of outstanding natural beauty and home to the world famous Giant’s Causeway.
The triangle circuit is one of the fastest in the world. In 2005, Michael Rutter broke the record for the fastest speed in the history of the event with 201.1mph.....
Orgainsers are delighted to confirm that the 2008 event will take place on Saturday 17th May with Race Week activities beginning on Sunday 11th May. Practice night will be Tuesday 13th Thursday 15th of the race week festival.
 See you there

managed to get booked into a hotel in Portstewart this time, was supposed to go back to Ballycastle but the gf tried a few places and managed to get booked, think its about a mile from the main start/finish so should be handy

can also get a wee sherbet or 2 during the race as we wont need to ride anywhere :p

It sounds like you have a good spot - Portstewart is a great location as there is plenty going on during the week and it is easy enough to walk up to the paddock. Plenty of good viewing points too.:smt045

Really looking forward to it myself :D

yvo, first visited Portstewart in 04 and thought it was a crackin wee place, seemed like it was buzzin (was in June tho so will probably be busier at the NW200)

Its handy as well for the wee ferry from Magilligan to Greencastle as we have friends in Moville.

Some really crackin roads as well on the Inishowen 100 route, must be some of the best secluded beaches there is, really nice part of the world up there.
