Here is my SV650s for sale, It has had a brand new tire put on the front 2 days ago a michelin pilot 2 and a brand new rear tire last month a metzeler roadtec saving the new owner £220. it has short tax and mot till the end of september but i know 100% it will pass the mot.
The bike itself is in really good condition, no rust anywhere. has lots of history and has been garaged by the previous owners and has been very well looked after with only 14,000 miles on the clock. It is currently restricted to 33bhp so those with a full license can have it removed, i never bothered because its fast enough, this will be £49 to remove it. I have done the last service myself with new oil, oil filter, air filter etc so shes running lovely.
Please call 07946337600 after 7pm as im on nite shift so il be sleeping in the day.

Just had a nice chat with a Police biker about going a bit too briskly on my way home :( Weren't too many cars about this evening, going past the Ace cafe when I see a bright headlight following me. Thought it was a bigger bike wanting to get a move on so I keep a steady speed then eventually move to the middle lane to let him past. He moves with me so I move over again not seeing a bus wanting to pull out into my lane. After cutting in front of a lorry the blue lights come on and I get that sinking feeling. Points here we come.

He informs me of my riding and how to improve, checks my address and I take it on the chin and he says safe riding. No points :D. Thought I'd share this because I was impressed how he was concerned about my safety as a fellow biker and explained how I could have dealt with the hazards better.

Even though most of my attention was on this bright headlight following me I can't use that as an excuse. If the bus pulled out it would have been curtains. Next time if someone is following that close I should move over and pay more attention to what's happening in front of me. Safer riding is always a good thing. Thank you nice Police Biker

I have an Art can on my curvy SV and it pops a bit between 4000 and 5000 revs. It's generally in 2nd or 3rd gear, and normally when I've revved the bike up to say 7000 and let go of the throttle, it'll pop as the revs drop back through the range, and below 4000 there's no problem.
I'm very new to bikes so I just wanted to find out whether this is something I should be concerned about or whether it's something as simple as the type of can I have.

Hi Folks,

I need help!

I'm trying to find somewhere to live around the Thames Valley / Outer West side of London. I start work beginning of November and I had though I had accommodation sorted out however the landlord has withdrawn and left me with a mad dash to find somewhere to live.

If anyone can provide advice or knows of anyone that has a place that would be suitable I would be very grateful, for reference I had found a house-share, the place had a garage for my bike and was en-suite... approx £600pcm. I need to be within reasonable commuting distance of Bedfont Lakes which is very near Heathrow T4.

Cheers!

Hi Guys and Gals,

First time post here, so go easy on me!! Hopefully one/some/all of you can help me out.

After an unfortunate incident with the sidestand failing, I recently decided to streetfighter my 1999 SV650S. I've removed the old headlight, which had 2 headlights wired for both dip and main beam.

The replacement unit is a Falcon Universal Fairing/Headlamp Unit (4th product down on the following link)

http://www.ukbikeparts.net/acatalog/Fairings.html

The Falcon unit looks as though it's a single lamp for dipped on the left, and the right hand lamp for main beam. Both lamps have 2 wires (black and white) connected, whereas the factory headlight has 2 sets of 3 wires (one of which I'm assuming is the earth wire) one for each light.

Has anyone fitted this unit to their bike, and if so, how did you go about the wiring? Any help/advice would be much appreciated, folks!!

Hi all - I just thought I would rasie the topic of waterproof gear esspecially coz of the recent down pour. Anyone actually know of REALLY TRUELY waterproof gear - I've got a Frank THomas All weather textile jacket (not Goretex for waterproof guaranteeed) it's got three layers to it, 1 warm layer, 1 waterproof layer and the out water repellant layer but if it ****ing down - I'll still get soaked. I've got goretex Rukka All weather textile trousers which are good but only truely work if you have the under layer on which at the moment is way too hot. I had a pair of goretex Dianese textile trousers sent back to the manufacturer as I got drenched around the groin and thighs.....and they claimed that there was nothing wrong with them. Only thing that seems to be waterproof is my helmet! Any comments????

booked car back in today and the job was done again. we had a good old laugh about the pipes this morning and even said then its an easy mistake and to not worry about it.

got to the garage and got the wallet out ready to pay. but to my surprise i was charged NOTHING.

i was surprised the first time round when i was only charged £60. but to have them do the extra work for nowt was a nice gesture.

May be going to Cebu province in the Philippines soon, but the government websight seems to suggesting that only fans of orange jump suits, radiators, hand cuffs, and dying should travel there at this time...Not being a member of the Terry Waite re-enactment society, I'm wondering if it's such a clever place to visit.
I would be interested in what you guys think are the 'must do' checks and improvements/mods after picking it up. (Aside from the usual service stuff)

I have ordered a fender xtender already as I have read the threads about the wet front plug problem - which I would like to avoid as its going to be my commuter bike (35miles of fast A roads every day)

These can be used all year round as they have a removeable quilted liner.

Soft armour to the knees/shins and backside. Various velcro fasteners to tailor them to fit. Part elasticated waist, bottom zips and reflective piping.

In excellent condition except for the cargo pocket has been removed. This was due to me melting the pocket flap on a hot exhaust not long after having them. Stitch holes can be seen where the pocket was on close inspection.

These have hardly been used so will make a nice cheap pair to wear over the winter months.

Size L (approx 34" to 36" waist with 31" leg).

Looking for £20 posted.
Cheers Chris.

Builder has been there 10 days and look at the poor house!

This is a view of the front. There is no front door (was just beyond the garage), and there is a gaping hole where the front window used to be. This is going to become the new front door:

Quick peek in the garage. Anne bought this Rayburn on ebay:

There used to be a side porch that backed onto a downstairs loo, and the front porch was beyond that. You can now see all the way through. This is going to be the new utility room. The old one has disappeared:

This here's a view from the kitchen (as was) through to the sitting room. There will be simply an opening between the two, as per pic. Note there is no kitchen ceiling. The wall was where Tony is stood, and everything is supported by pit props, a RSJ should have gone in there today. The old hallway is far too big, and we can move the kitchen wall about 2m to make a much bigger and more usable kitchen area:

Here are the gypsy cranes ready to crank the RSJ into position:

Told you there's no ceiling:

Scaffold going up at the back so the joiner can take the roof off - should have happened today - to build a new dormer for a new bedroom in the loft:

What the hell have we done:

I've posted before about my mate Greg in Adelaide who has been building a v-twin JAP 1200 motor (http://forums.sv650.org/showthread.php?t=145419)

Well he and his mate Mark have just returned from Phillip Island with an Australian Historic Championship. It was on another JAP, as the new built-from-scratch bike is not ready just yet, but I thought some here might enjoy his write-up on the weekend:

2010 AUSTRALIAN HISTORIC ROAD RACING CHAMPIONSHIP, PHILLIP ISLAND SEPT 3rd-5th

Last January Mark Schuppan took Graeme Wagland’s Basham-JAP to some good first places at the annual Island Classic. At the post-race Sunday eve BBQ a very happy Wags announced to all that he’d like to sponsor Mark on a new bike that he would build from scratch using one of my soon-to-be-completed 1200cc JAP V Twin engines.

Graeme said he would aim to complete the build in time for Mark and I to take delivery of the machine and undertake wiring, tuning, and track and dyno testing so we could confidently race it at last weekend’s Australian Historic Road Racing Championship event.
We all agreed it would be a very tight schedule to build a completely new machine from parts, most of which had yet to be manufactured, but at least we should aim for it. As a backup, in case we should fail to meet the target date Wags generously offered Mark the use of his Basham-JAP for the event.

The new engine was delivered to Wags in February and the build commenced. John Davis built the tasty Manx Replica frame, exhaust & etc. Wags was the project manager and also made oil tanks, seat, fairing fittings and the like. In addition to the engine I was scheduled to manufacture the Manx replica wheels, forks and the belt primary drive and clutch.
However, over the next few months it became obvious that I would not complete the rear wheel and forks in time so Wags borrowed a new wheel from John and I lent some forks until the new ones could be completed

Well, September 1st arrived and we had got close, but didn’t quite make it. Wags had delivered the nearly completed bike to us in late July, but Mark and I struggled to find enough spare time after our scheduled daily work to complete the list of time consuming little jobs that always take forever. You know how it is, when the wheels are on and the engine is in the frame, the real work starts! Besides, the tacho only arrived last week and the tank is still being built! We have weeks of work ahead, but no doubt it will be roaring around the tracks by the end of the year.

So, that meant that Mark was on board the Basham-JAP for this event. Mark had previously booked the Thursday ride day in case we needed it to complete the testing of the new JAP but we found that was very fortunate indeed because we soon found that we really needed it to set up the Basham-JAP and make it reliable. In fact Mark only managed a couple of practice laps before the primary drive belt was spat out, the flange on the drive pulley disappearing into the grassy infield wilderness somewhere never to be seen again. We’d have to head back to the workshop to fix that lot! But before we did that Mark had to take Wags’ Triton out for some sorting laps as Wags was otherwise occupied working on the flags that day. We found a few little problems that would have cost Wags some time when he took over the riding the next day so it had been a good move to have that extra day at the track. That night Wag’s workshop we manufactured a new flange for the pulley and significantly modified the pulley and mount so the belt would run true and stay put.

Next morning practice went well in the cool dry conditions ahead of the coming storm.
First qualifying saw Mark well ahead of the rest in his class and with the storm due to hit before final qualifying the next morning, his result would most likely put him on pole. We took the bike back to the workshop that night for a few more modifications, an oil change and a check over. That night the big one hit with a bang.
Rain, rain and more rain. The wind was fierce and blew rubbish bins everywhere. Anything else that was not lashed down was all over the place. However, by the time we got to the track the wind had abated somewhat, the rain had turned to showers and things were fining up, relatively speaking. Unfortunately some flooding on the track perimeter between turns 11 and 12 caused a delay and abandonment of the second qualifying sessions. This meant that Mark had qualified in front of the guys in his class by over 7 seconds.

But things were a little different this year. Rules had changed; riders are now able to enter their capacity class as usual, but are also allowed to enter one class up. That is, a 350 rider can race in the 350 class but can also enter the 500 class. Similarly, 500cc class riders can enter the Formula 700 class as well as their own 500cc class.
To complicate things somewhat, at this event the Unlimited class was being run concurrently with the Formula 700 class so that meant there were 500cc, 750cc and 1300cc machines on the track ….. and amongst then was a certain New Zealander entered on a wickedly fast 500 McIntyre Manx, one Andrew Stroud……. and he had qualified about half a second quicker than Mark, so he was on the actual pole on the track.

The titles were to be decided on points over three races; one on Saturday and two on the big day.
Interestingly, Mark was in an unfamiliar situation, the title was his to lose. A different pressure for someone who loves wet races where he relishes the opportunity to beat others that out-speed him in the dry. Mark knew that he didn’t have to beat Stroud for the title because he was only entered in the formula 750 class, not the unlimited class…..but can you imagine Shoop not ‘having a go’ at someone in front? Yeah, right.

First race was wet, they headed off the line into the gloom …… we had a long wait to see who would be where when the came back into sight over Lukey.
Stroud come round in front, but no Mark!! Then a guy did a rag doll coming out of MG and just lay there, unmoving. Red flags signaled a race stoppage…then Mark came around, whew, but where had he been?

Back in the pit garage and the mud and broken fairing told the story. He’d slipped off in the southern loop but had quickly remounted and been smart enough to come around over the finish line before returning to the pits to make sure that he completed a lap and would be able to restart. Frantic work saw him back on the bike, but not quite quick enough to miss the pit exit closure by about 3 seconds…. so he’d have to start from pit lane! Scary.

After the race was underway we had our anxious wait to see where in the field he would reappear as they came into view over Lukey Heights….sure enough Stroud was in the lead followed by two others followed by a storming Mark down the hill into MG…. he flashed around the outside of both between turns 11 and 12 to move into second before one lap was up. He was steaming for sure. Over the next 5 laps he and Stroud moved way ahead and finished a good 40 seconds ahead of the next best. Not a bad result, considering.

Back to the crowded sweatshop that evening the damage was repaired and some of us headed for an early night as we had that lo-o-o-ng drive home on Sunday night after the racing was over.

Sunday morning saw a bit of wind, but only showers. Mark’s races were run on damp tracks with nothing more then perhaps a few spots. The first race of the day was a good result, Stroud out in front but Mark not too far behind, winning his class on a slippery track and a good 24 seconds ahead of third place. One more race to go.

The final was run in drying conditions and saw some better lap times. Mark headed Stroud round on the first two laps, then Andrew slipped by him to head him over the line on the third only for Mark to retake the lead on the next lap. On the fifth Andrew slipped by him down in the loop. Then several lapped riders a bit later on that lap baulked Mark a few seconds. He then put in the fastest lap of the race in a good attempt to bridge the gap, but it was not to be. Stroud took line-honors, but Mark took the win in his class. A great race and Mark’s grin was big.

So, our club has a new Australian Champion…..the *******, he’s left me behind, he now has three national titles to my two!...but then I only managed to earn mine in the chair with him…ha!

Thanks must go to Graeme for putting us up…or is that putting up with us, providing his bike for Mark to race, Marj for feeding and watering us, Morv and Bill and John Davis for helping and the wonderful Kelly, for just being Kelly.

There’s a lot more I could write (and usually do!), it was a well run event, especially considering the conditions and the appearance of world class young riders like Cameron Donald, Brendan Roberts, Andrew Stroud, Dave Cole, Nik Cole, some fast fossils like Wally Campbell and Robbie Phyllis, combined with some up and coming stars like Levi Day, a team of about 31 Kiwis, a big contingent of West Australians together with riders from all over the country meant that it was en event you should not have missed.
Last January the Island Classic attracted just under 20,000 spectators, making that event the third biggest motorcycle attraction held in Australia, third only to the MotoGP and World Superbikes, so make sure you come along next January and enjoy it with the usual crew that head over, Even if you only go to watch, you’ll not regret it.

Greg Summerton

During the restarted race 1 on his winning way after he had crashed on that first lap and hurriedly remounted and was lucky enough to take advantage of the restarted race caused by someone else crashing out a few corners later and laid motionless on the track causing a red flagged stoppage (phew!)
I've been sent two completely different sets of seals from wemoto and i'm not to sure either is the right one.

The two I've been sent are

Vesrah AR 4101, which definately not them as they are noticeably smaller than the fork santions

and

Vesrah AR 4104

What I wanting to know would either of these seal sets work?

I am selling my SV650S due to a variety of reasons. It's done around 40000 miles has 9 months tax and MOT on it. Fully faired and blue (no pics yet but will try and download at some point), also has smoked screen, scorpion can and seat hump (pillion seat included). Think it needs a new gear box though as it rattles and doesn't always engage. Did find one on ebay, but due to the various reasons have decided to sell as is instead.
Any sensible offers, but buyer collects.
Edited- Thought I'd put a price in before the any sensible offers bit, sorry all.
£1200 or any sensible offer, wont break it as haven't the time as I'm up and down the country at the minute. It's currently at my sisters so always someone around.
