Just had a nice chat with a Police biker about going a bit too briskly on my way home :( Weren't too many cars about this evening, going past the Ace cafe when I see a bright headlight following me. Thought it was a bigger bike wanting to get a move on so I keep a steady speed then eventually move to the middle lane to let him past. He moves with me so I move over again not seeing a bus wanting to pull out into my lane. After cutting in front of a lorry the blue lights come on and I get that sinking feeling. Points here we come.

He informs me of my riding and how to improve, checks my address and I take it on the chin and he says safe riding. No points :D. Thought I'd share this because I was impressed how he was concerned about my safety as a fellow biker and explained how I could have dealt with the hazards better.

Even though most of my attention was on this bright headlight following me I can't use that as an excuse. If the bus pulled out it would have been curtains. Next time if someone is following that close I should move over and pay more attention to what's happening in front of me. Safer riding is always a good thing. Thank you nice Police Biker

my mum-in-law's car failed its MOT the other day with corroded brake pipes. as the place where i get my MOT's done is only a test centre i took the car to a local garage i know. job was jobbed and i took car for a re-sit only to be told that the garage has replaced the wrong brake pipes.

booked car back in today and the job was done again. we had a good old laugh about the pipes this morning and even said then its an easy mistake and to not worry about it.

got to the garage and got the wallet out ready to pay. but to my surprise i was charged NOTHING.

i was surprised the first time round when i was only charged £60. but to have them do the extra work for nowt was a nice gesture.

Hi folks,
May be going to Cebu province in the Philippines soon, but the government websight seems to suggesting that only fans of orange jump suits, radiators, hand cuffs, and dying should travel there at this time...Not being a member of the Terry Waite re-enactment society, I'm wondering if it's such a clever place to visit.

Any experiences? Anybody been there lately? Any good/bad/scarry stories? This is for Cebu province only mind, I know Mindanao is the main place to die.
Any chance we can pin this for the time being so it doesn`t get swamped ?

Anyone else watching this ?

It makes a refreshing change to see people who've actually worked at their singing/musicianship & songwriting and who just want to earn a living from it as opposed to those who appear on X Factor and the like who seem to just want to be famous.

There's some real talent on this programme - my favourite is Emma's Imagination - she reminds me somewhat of Suzanne Vega when she first started.

So far I'm 4 for 4 with my picks for the final :-)

Well based on another thread about Asbo/Birch and a few coming forward to say it never did me any harm. who was battered in submission/compliance, who was simply battered and refused to conform? and who was subjected to a discussion about their issues and problems?

My early years was a brutal regime where nuns ruled the roost. One sadistic bitch would use a 3' rule on the back of the knuckle, thin edge for boys, flat edge for girls. We 6 year old lived in fear of her. Years later my mother said she never knew we had been beaten by her. We were forced to eat disgusting food, one time somebody threw theirs on the floor and it was decided it must have been me. I was forced to eat it off the floor like a dog being told to think about the starving babies in Africa

At secondary school a public flogging in front of the school was regularly administered. My misdemeanour's were never that serious in the early years to warrant the assembly caning. So got private ones yes bent over on the backside. but the git would always get a few low ones in on the backs of the legs that would invariably bleed.

I was invited to leave when I told my head of year that if he tried to use that thing (cane) on me I would shove it up his ****. As the whole form took that attitude there was a governors inquiry where it was decided that senior pupils would no longer be caned, we were allowed back to resit our public examines.

Caning didn't change my attitude, just made me more resentful. But I despair for modern teachers who have no sanction for unruly pupils.

Stolen from Wiltshirebikers.co.uk:

The idea of the game is to take words that begin with anything that sounds like 'Sir', and generate a Knight's name, then a backstory describing him, based on the word's meaning.

A handful of simple examples;

Sir Cumference, the rotund Knight. (Circumference)
Sir Pent, the reptilian Knight. (Serpent)
Sir Berus, the three headed Knight. (Cerberus)

Rules are;
Must be a real word,
The first syllable of the word must sound like 'Sir' or be very easily stretched to sound like it,
No repitition,
Extension/superlatives/plurals are frowned upon. Tense variations.... yeah, ok, they're allowed.

Tests are booked for 8th for Mod 1 and 15th for Mod 2. Pretty nervous about them to be honest.

The bike is a 2001 yellow one, unfaired. Done about 15k miles. Got it cheap as the last lady owner dropped it on her drive so its got a small dent in the tank and scuff near the seat. Otherwise seems to be a good bike.

Anyway, looking forward to getting on a 'proper' bike :p

I came back from my regular work trip to Edinburgh this week with a Bank of Scotland £5.

So, at Tescos in Southampton on Saturday, I bought a couple of bits that came to just under a fiver, the conversation went like this:

Cashier: That is £4.50 please

Me: Do you take scottish fivers (having been in banking for 25 years I knew they would...)

Cashier: Oh, I don't know, I'll just check

Cashier 2: I think so but I am not sure

Supervisor 1: I think so, ask supervisor 2

Supervisor 2: Yes we do, but only if they have sterling on them :rolleyes:

Bloody good job I didn't have one of them tartan euro notes then :p

Now that I have this beautiful machine, I want to know what it is capable of--so I was wondering, if ya'll have the time, please post a link to your favorite topic in here and I'll check it out pronto.

I really want to rig up a red light kit inside the fairing to make it look demonic at night.

I have not been able to get my phone's camera loaded onto my computer, however I did find this identical specimen online:

Or any that will admit to it here!
I have a question which somebody may be able to answer. Does a caravan have to be registered in the UK? Do you have a 'V5' document or something similar?
I ask because I'm thinking of buying a caravan in England and importing it to Sweden, where I live, as they're much cheaper in the UK.
To register it in Sweden, though, I need registration documents.
Any information would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks

Caz has recently split from her bloke after 12 years together and we were having a dad - daughter chat about it tonight and along the way she was asking for my advice about things; Conversation went something like this;

Me: I don't know why you're asking me for advice, I can't keep a girlfriend for as long as it takes me to get the ferrets and tubes into the bedroom.

Caz: Ferrets? Dad, that's a gay thing and they use gerbils and the tubes from their cages.

Me: Really? I could have sworn someone said ferrets. Oh never mind.

Caz: You are kidding me, right?

Me: No, I'm not. Can you do me a favour - when you see her next, say sorry to your mum from me please.

Caz: Ewww! There are times when I really don't know if you're being serious or not, and this is one of those times when I just don't want to know.

Click.... buuuuurrrrrrr

<puts on innocent look>

What did do? What did I say wrong? :D

Kulula airline attendants make an effort to make the in-flight "safety lecture" and announcements a bit more entertaining. Here are some real examples that have been heard or reported:

On a Kulula flight, (there is no assigned seating, you just sit where you want) passengers were apparently having a hard time choosing, when a flight attendant announced, "People, people we're not picking out furniture here, find a seat and get in it!"

On another flight with a very "senior" flight attendant crew, the pilot said, "Ladies and gentlemen, we've reached cruising altitude and will be turning down the cabin lights. This is for your comfort and to enhance the appearance of your flight attendants."

On landing, the stewardess said, "Please be sure to take all of your belongings. If you're going to leave anything, please make sure it's something we'd like to have."

"There may be 50 ways to leave your lover, but there are only 4 ways out of this airplane."
"Thank you for flying Kulula. We hope you enjoyed giving us the business as much as we enjoyed taking you for a ride."

As the plane landed and was coming to a stop at Durban Airport , a lone voice came over the loudspeaker: "Whoa, big fella. WHOA!"

From a Kulula employee: " Welcome aboard Kulula 271 to Port Elizabeth . To operate your seat belt, insert the metal tab into the buckle, and pull tight. It works just like every other seat belt; and, if you don't know how to operate one, you probably shouldn't be out in public unsupervised."

"In the event of a sudden loss of cabin pressure, masks will descend from the ceiling. Stop screaming, grab the mask, and pull it over your face. If you have a small child travelling with you, secure your mask before assisting with theirs. If you are travelling with more than one small child, pick your favourite."

Weather at our destination is 50 degrees with some broken clouds, but we'll try to have them fixed before we arrive. Thank you, and remember, nobody loves you, or your money, more than Kulula Airlines."

"Your seats cushions can be used for flotation; and in the event of an emergency water landing, please paddle to shore and take them with our compliments."

"As you exit the plane, make sure to gather all of your belongings. Anything left behind will be distributed evenly among the flight attendants. Please do not leave children or spouses.."

And from the pilot during his welcome message: "Kulula Airlines is pleased to announce that we have some of the best flight attendants in the industry. Unfortunately, none of them are on this flight!"

Overheard on a Kulula flight into Cape Town , on a particularly windy and bumpy day: During the final approach, the Captain really had to fight it. After an extremely hard landing, the Flight Attendant said, "Ladies and Gentlemen, welcome to The Mother City. Please remain in your seats with your seat belts fastened while the Captain taxis what's left of our airplane to the gate!"

An airline pilot wrote that on this particular flight he had hammered his ship into the runway really hard. The airline had a policy which required the first officer to stand at the door while the passengers exited, smile, and give them a "Thanks for flying our airline. He said that, in light of his bad landing, he had a hard time looking the passengers in the eye, thinking that someone would have a smart comment. Finally everyone had gotten off except for a little old lady walking with a cane. She said, "Sir, do you mind if I ask you a question?" "Why, no Ma'am," said the pilot. "What is it?" The little old lady said, "Did we land, or were we shot down?"

After a real crusher of a landing in Johannesburg , the attendant came on with, "Ladies and Gentlemen, please remain in your seats until Captain Crash and the Crew have brought the aircraft to a screeching halt against the gate. And, once the tire smoke has cleared and the warning bells are silenced, we will open the door and you can pick your way through the wreckage to the terminal.."
