Re: Vintage film cameras

I'm good thanks, have been selling a few myself as well. The BX20 is going to go, not worth trying to fix (fires on mechanical speed but no electronic control it seems, also meter is a few stops too dark), also the Lubitel 166B. it needs the shutter cleaning and fungus removing from the lenses. I don't mind it going as it is, but I was planning to make it work first.

Kenzie 23-08-17 07:28 PM

Re: Vintage film cameras

If I didn't already have a 166B I would probably be interested. Have you got your joblot bundle yet? Might think about pruning some of the lesser point and shoot type cameras as well.
Pretty minty Perkeo 132294548032. I have also found a Bessa rangefinder at a really good price so will keep an eye on it.
Yoko, you didn't fancy taking th T50 to China?

yokohama 23-08-17 08:07 PM

Re: Vintage film cameras

I'm good on the lenses too thanks. Surprised you are jettisoning the 80-210 AD2. The one I have performs pretty well.
I don't have a T50 to take to China; don't have any Canons at all, or Nikons come to that. It's going to be a Minolta this year I think. I have plenty of them
Had a quick look in WYC today but didn't buy anything although a wine induced speculative bid on an ebay lens last weekend came back to bite me on the bum.

Kenzie 23-08-17 08:12 PM

Re: Vintage film cameras

What did you drunk buy? I just don't think I will use the AD 2 as I have the slightly shorter one. I have the T50 you sent down if you want. Trying to weed out duplicates. Unless Admin wants it for the lens for the A1?

Okay, is this someone on here?

Kenzie 23-08-17 08:16 PM

Re: Vintage film cameras

Not me! Probably Yoko after he popped in here to sell the only two cameras he had.

yokohama 23-08-17 08:19 PM

Re: Vintage film cameras

Wouldn't mind a rummage in there though.

Kenzie, I drunkenly acquired a Zuiko 35-105. Was only £18, which I thought pretty good. no-one else bid for it.

Took me a few minutes but

no it's not me - too many boxes and no folders!

Kenzie the box of junk is coming at the weekend, picking it up from my bother in law. After I posted the picture I noticed a few more bits missing, so maybe it is all just scrap, but we'll see.

This one? http://www.mir.com.my/rb/photography...ls/35105mm.htm

Re: Vintage film cameras

Yep. That one. I don't have any Olympus Zuiko lenses apart from 50mm primes.

Re: Vintage film cameras

It's a tough balance at the moment, I enjoy collecting them but I am wondering if it is getting in the way of enjoying photographery. I also think it's time to look at higher end stuff as well.

yokohama 24-08-17 06:30 PM

Re: Vintage film cameras

I think you're right on the high end stuff. Pay more but buy fewer = spend the same. And if it's something you want, why not? It'll hold its value.
Mind you, I would say that! I haven't bought anything for a while so finally got one of these .... https://phillipreeve.net/blog/lenses...kor-50mm-11-4/

Re: Vintage film cameras

So given the above post I got this for a fiver with nine shots in

Ugly as sin.

Also, my Clack arrived

yokohama 24-08-17 06:55 PM

Re: Vintage film cameras

Lol, why not?
The Clack is a strange looking thing. I just read an article on it. Are you planning on giving it a go?

Kenzie 24-08-17 07:01 PM

Re: Vintage film cameras

Defo, it's a 6x9 believe it or not. The larger looking Click is 6x6. Got a roll of expired film lined up for it.

I was given this today.

Re: Vintage film cameras

Wow, APS! Will you try and track down some film? The Instax is empty which is a shame.

yokohama 24-08-17 07:34 PM

Re: Vintage film cameras

Can't go wrong with a Minolta, Admin. If Jessops still do the film, you're in luck.

Actually, was just on the Jessops site... the code 'film20' gets 20% off film, which brings a 36 exp roll of Fuji Superia 400 down to £5.60. Hmmmm

admin 24-08-17 08:36 PM

Re: Vintage film cameras

We don't sell APS film and we don't process it either. Shame. I'll probably just keep it as a curiousity item.

Re: Vintage film cameras

Coincidentally I saw an ad in Cardiff I think for a pair of underwater APS Canon cameras, looked a bit like yours admin, round and green. Took me a while to figure out what they were. You can pick up APS on ebay of course, I don't know if there's a way of DIYing it with new film. The negs are quite small from what I've just read though so not sure there is a lot of point in the real world.

Re. too many cameras, yeah we all went a bit nuts and collected a lot of things - some more than others! I've sold the ones I'm not very attached to, but trying not to have a pile of too many others that I won't use or don't want for a reason. It's worth maybe selling a few to fund something more pricey, and as Yoko says, these things don't seem to lose their value anyway. Christmas is coming too! I might have one or two things to put on the list, might have to be quite prescriptive about it. Also Peak Imaging vouchers and/or film.

admin 25-08-17 09:16 AM

Re: Vintage film cameras

Yes this camera has rubber sealed doors, so I'm guessing it's weather proof. I might get a film out of interest and get it processed at Palmlabs. APS is a lot smaller and was derided at the time when it came out because of that. It did mean that some compact cameras could be made smaller though. The main reason it was pushed is that it made it easier for the processors such as Fuji. Annoyingly you don't get the negs back like 35mm, instead you get the cassette back with the film in and a contract sheet. Storing the cassettes is not as convenient as using neg sheets.

Just tried it again. Works on Superia but not on Kodak so I guess it's only on some brands, not all

Tried it on sx70, and it doesn't work. Oh well.

Re: Vintage film cameras

Thinking about it, maybe on my Christmas list! I'm honestly trying not to buy stuff, unless it's to trade, I feel the same way about it just getting in the way. The trading pays for other stuff, but it also means people get to buy things with some actual information about them - unlike 99% of ebay ads - whether they work or not. Sometimes I look at ads that aren't really a bargain but look okay and I might pick it up to sell on for that reason. Not sure I've actually done it yet...

Re: Vintage film cameras

You're right, but the reason is twofold. One is I never know what people should get for me, I used to ask for books and CDs but I drive a lot with work instead of flying so don't read as much, and the CD player in my pickup is busted. Secondly, I keep a list all year for my wife and little girl of ideas, even the vaguest ones, so that when I need them I've got something to go on. In recent years I've got all the good stuff already so I'm struggling to know what to get them!

Kenzie 26-08-17 12:39 PM

Re: Vintage film cameras

Well that's the scanner and the box of cameras and lenses dropped off at the charity shop. The only thing I kept was the adaptall lens as its no good without a mount and I don't want to lose one. Yoko, did you want to take it to China?

Re: Vintage film cameras

I'm fine with the lenses thanks Kenzie. Still debating whether to take the same AD2 and a 35-70 to China or keep it to 1 lens and take the 35-130.
I cant resist cameras either. Saw a Ricoh 500g for a tenner today, ... what to do ??
Chasing these as well. https://www.gumtree.com/p/lenses/cam...ses/1263509708

Re: Vintage film cameras

Hmm, a Helios 44, nice lens. A tenner isn't bad, don't you have one already though?

Re: Vintage film cameras

Aye, but I've a Praktica with a big hole on the front waiting for something.

Kenzie 26-08-17 05:53 PM

Re: Vintage film cameras

Sorry, I meant the Ricoh. I have a Zenit EM going spare if you want it? Off to car boot sale tomorrow.

yokohama 26-08-17 10:23 PM

Re: Vintage film cameras

Different vintage of Ricoh. A 500G and a 500GX. I'll take one of these to China as they will easily slip into a pocket.

Kenzie 27-08-17 08:00 AM

Re: Vintage film cameras

Ah, I thought they were roughly the same. Picked this up for 50p at the boot sale. I also got a Bell and Holwell 256 Autload projector for £8.https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...b20ef22b74.jpg
