It's quite similiar to the first one, but simpler. It's just that I weigh 10 stone and I have no muscles :smt045

Don't be so lazy ... take the discs off  ...

After doing the bead, when you are using the tyre leavers to try and get the tyres off, you are going to need to stick the wheel on the floor and put pressure on it ... again ... you don't want the discs on it for that either ;) .. you can do it with discs on, but the whole thing is less risky with them off ;) ... with a t-bar allen key, it takes a matter of seconds to get the discs off.

Oh and I think the leverage on that ?21 one should be fine - unless you are a b1tch!! ;)

:-k :p

Ok, I will just settle for taking the disc off...unless I win that expensive bead breaker in which case I might try using the tyre levers with it on the breaker!:smt077

The thing with this is that I want to make it as easy as possible for the sake of a few quid - as well as a spade might work, it can't be as idiot-proof as something like one of these machines that has a fixed range of movement. I could see plenty of spade-related-slippage-accidents for a first-timer! ;)

Yeah a spade with a 17st bloke bouncing on it pops the bead quite quickly :smt045

I di my 1st tyre with a spade, some hose pipe and a couple of cheap tyre levers just a couple of weeks ago and didn't injure myself at all. I just did it next to a wall for support

Fair play to you mate, i'll probably get one myself when i've got a bit more room in my garage

oh and the brake cleaner/flammable spray works a treat for popping the tyre onto the bead properly
