Re: Fitting my BMC filter tonight.....
Good lad. I would keep it too. Power corrupts !
It's a piece of p**s to swop the jets. It's only the MAIN JETS you need to worry about. Message me your email and I'll forward you a pdf and some other notes. Basically standing on the left hand side of the bike (curb side) remove tank, remove air box, loosen inlet manifolds, this should alow the carbs to be twisted up and over to expose the float bowls. There's 3 screws on each. You don't need to worry about any of the pipes or cables on the carbs as you can just ignore these and remove the float bowls. Put any cigarettes out as petrol will come out of the float bowls, but not much. There's 3 screws on each undo these and pop them off. The MAIN JET is the big one smack bang in the middle. The haynes has an exploded diagram. Unscrew it, screw your new bigger jets in, just a flat bladed screwdriver does, best if it's short as space is tight. Clean up the float bowl mating surface and reasemble. Put everything back together and job done. Clean out the float bowl while it's off. There'll probs se some junk in the sediment pot at the bottom. The spark plugs will tell you if your jetting is close. There's also various tests you can do. You mayhave to go to 160s depending on the exhaust you've got. You may be fine with 152.5s. Only use Mikunis. |

Re: Fitting my BMC filter tonight.
Interesting read so far gents, I've been toyin with the idea of changing my fillet to a BMC one also, and rejetting, the garage always told me not to bother ( I've a KnN foilter and a CCC can on at the moment, baffles are for girls ;) )
Also should fit those tank spacers for a bit more air in the system also. I assume along with rejetting you shoudl rebalance the carbs after you install Tank spacers ? etc |
