Fair point, I think - I'm going on the lines across meeting up with the traffic lines, where the other sort are a wheels width away at least. Solid areas like that are fairly rare though - I can only think of one within a reasonable distance of here.

Just figures that the 07 highway code doesn't have an example of both to compare though.

Ah the A31 along by wimborne, its always heavy with traffic like that especially on saturdays and in the summer, its quite wide there and that bit in the middle I always filter along. But you need to keep your fricken wits about you as cagers quite often get f*cked off with being stuck in traffic and U turn like that without warning. I tend to sit out wider right out in the other lane as much as I can as it gives me I feel better visability of what the cars are doing.

If thats where I think it is, it didnt happen far from the Dorset Police HQ and I've filtered past plenty of police cars and not had any greif over it.

As Stu says, makes you realise how quickly things go wrong.

That was harsh... The bike didn't really know what the car was going to do I guess. :(

Jut shows what can happen all too easily... at least in a situation with lots of traffic on my side and none on the other I know what to watch out for.

There are some sick video's on Youtube with bike crashes, some awful ones with deaths involved. Shocking!

That's not much compared to what we get around here, U-turn on a dual carriage way (40 mph not 60mph) (our side was a traffic jam) across the central barrier (curb + tarmac) to the other side of the D/C, don't think I could believe it at the time.

i once saw someone drive thier white van through a gap in the central res, drive about 100yards the wrong way down the duel carrageway just to get into an estate which he could have done if he had just gone round a roundabout and taken maybe an extra 2mins

I tend to watch biking crashes on youtube now and again. It's a sobering reminder and also you can see where other people got it wrong.
I always hope that the people didn't get hurt though as I would not want that to happen.
There's a vid somewhere with someone riding like a twonk and he passes to the wrong side of the road and hits another biker head on. (numpty!)

If you notice, at 1:04 the black golf pulls left to make space for the bike to get past - a similar initial action to the sh*thead that pulled out in front of the bike.

Definatley the the idiot in the focus is at fault, the driver was so far over to the near side of the carridge way they could not possibly see ahead or behind. If that had been a bike cop on patrol etc i recon he'd have had the same accident, hope the rider & pillion walked away ok.
I hope the driver got all that was comming to him/her, claim for every thing.
