Have you still got the number plate for the dead bike?

Still got the number plate? I've got the whole bloody thing. The MoFo's have refused to let me sale it.

I did consider swapping the plates, but its not insured or MOT'ed anymore so its going to be all this form filling and letter writing for me. I'll keep this updated.

Too bl00dy right, that's a bit of our history that bike....

And by the way, are we ever going to get around to swapping the engine for the spare one you have to see if it works..??? You're in danger of having that bike go in the same direction as a certain Yamaha I know

Today's update:

Received a cheque through the post for £60.50.

Its taken them a month to not send me the full amount.

Straight onto the phone. Tell them the story they say "We only refund full months tax". I say that I should have never been issued with the tax disc in the first place, "You need to send a letter saying what happened" came the reply. I did was my response. "Let me take your phone number and someone will get in contact with you".

So I'm now waiting for a phone call. I'll give them a week...

Borderline necromancy but I have a final update...

Got a letter and its what I expected but not wanted.

Quote:

I sympathise with your circumstances, however, the conditions under which refunds of duty are made are governed by statute.

Therefore, evidence of non-use, however reliable, cannot be taken into account.
So I lose a month. If I pursue this anymore its going to end up costing me more than the refund which I will never get. Insert rants about politicians breaking rules/ laws, the post office, governments, bureaucrats, the economy, and the odd looking lady who lives next door, etc.

So what have we learned? Check everything twice and don't expect people to do their job properly.
