might be a bit cheap and cheerful for what you require but aldi are currently sellind a fullsize tripod mounted scope for Ģ30, think its aimed at bird watchers rather than star gazers but may be a toe in the water, think (not sure) it was a 50 X 100 magnification and looket to be about 14 inches long with the viewer at 90 degs. means nothing to me but thought i'd let you know.

Oh and a little tip for you. When you are looking at faint objects you may find that they appear to disappear from view. This is because the rods in your eye which are more light sensitive and concentrated around the retina where the middle yellow sopt has more cones, which while good for colour are not so hot on light senstivity. You therefore need to look to the side of the object and allow the image to focus on rod rich areas of the eye. It takes a bit of getting used to but you will be supirsed how quickly you can start to see detail this way.
