We have a winner!
Either you know me far better than someone I've not met has any right to, or purely by coincidence, you've listed exactly my:
Sportsbike of choice,
Fun bike of choice,
Practical bike of choice.
:D

I test rode one last year and loved it, only thing that put me off was the (pre-credit crunch) 6 month long waiting list and fear of massive depreciation due to the high mileage I do. I've since decided I'll run it till it becomes uneconomical to repair so am not too worried about the depreciation and could do with the extra comfort/practicality given the type of riding (long distance commuting and work use) that forms 90%+ of my riding these days. For personal reasons, the longer service intervals will be much appreciated too. The credit crunch has solved the waiting list; grey and black bike to my spec over from Germany in one week from ordering it. w00t!

Optional extras I've got on it:
Trip computer,
Heated Grips,
Enduro hand guards,
Centre stand,
Scottoiler,
Full BMW vario luggage and inner bags,
Pillion back pad for top box.

Will soon be fitting a bash plate, Kriega Fork Protectors, Touring screen, ram mount for my Tomtom and almost certainly engine bars.

Mods planned further down the line;
Headlight guards,
Anti-Glare Shield,
HID

FC insurance for £287, even though all my NCB is still on the SV. :D

This'll still be my main 'biking' home online, but I was wondering if anyone had any personnal recommendations on a suitable forum for the mechanical side of things? Advriders, F800 Riders, UKGSer?

Nice! :D

White Rabbit ran a GS1200 and one of those BMW 650 off roaders so might be worth PMing him for advice on forums

Excellent! And I pick up my new Tiger on Saturday, and I've ordered almost all the same accessories as you!

F800.org for the twins but I don't know if its any good, but you won't go far wrong with advrider.
The bike lives in the Beasts section:
http://www.advrider.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=5
and there is a thread track index
http://www.advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=415604
Enjoy!
UKGSer has a section for them but I never found the tech knowledge up to much for the 12, much better on advrider.
Did you get it from Steve at NoG?
Both NoG and Bath Rd are good for service, no idea about BVM.
