Re: Running on one cylinder after rain.
I've found if mine starts spluttering in a really wet riding session (in fairness, it's generally well behaved now), if I give it some welly on the revs for a while, the heat should evaporate the water anway.
Glad it's sorted Bluesteel! |
Re: Running on one cylinder after rain.
I found the opposite - whilst still being in the extreme rain, the front cylinder would fire with very light throttle input, but would cut out if more throttle was applied. It was kinda rideable but you had to watch for it taking off as you closed the throttle.
It sorted itself as soon as it was out of the torrential downpour. |
Re: Running on one cylinder after rain.
Missed this one - didnt think you were still around Bluesteel.
I NEVER had this problem on my pointy - the issue is usually a blocked drain or a badly seated HT lead. If you want me to come round and have a look some time, PM me and we can arrange a time. |

This happened to mine couple of months back - the front plug was well corroded and the drain hole thingy (as above!) was well blocked with crud. Hubby replaced plug, cleared drain hole with a thin screwdriver and put DW down it, put a fender extender on - got caught in heavy rain again and it was fine :D |
Re: Running on one cylinder after rain.
Wheres this drain hole people keep talking about then????

no no no!!!!!!!:smt075(patented design...must ask owners permission:lol:) If your doing something home made, do what the previous owner of my black SV did, and find a nice thin piece of metal sheet, hang it from the back of the rad, so it covers the front cylinder. Hidden and less ugly. Never et me down either. |
