Ordered a different pair for running, same manufacturer though - no eco option this time, just turned up in clear plastic.

I save all the big boxes that stuff comes in and put it in the corner of the garage, so when i'm doing messy work on the car(s) and bike(s) I put it down on the floor.

But then you still have the same problem when disposing of it I suppose..

**edit**

I'll just shut up then eh..

So the question is, if eveyday items came in plain 'raw' brown boxes would you buy it over a similar product in a pretty box?

I believe "packaging" is one of the "P"s that's at the core of marketing theory.

Are the general public REALLY that hung up on the prettyessness of this stuff?

So, yes, it would seem that, in general, we are. Personally, I try to be less easily swayed.

The weird thing is, I can see the reason for fancy packaging to differentiate when something's physically on a shelf in a shop (to attract interest - "Buy me!"), but with online stuff, why does all the stock need fancy product packaging?

Or you could do what Blockbuster do. Have display packages (would prob have to fix them down) to show a product off, but when buying, the box is more environmentally friendly, maybe with just a nice front side for kids pressies and the like.
