You may find me on there

I was a special for a few years before joining full time. I loved it and would do it again. If you put the effort in you get lots of rewards (maybe not monetary) but opportunities you normally wouldn't get. And if you do put the effort in, you'll get the respect thats deserved. Unfortunately there are some **** specials out there that spoil it for the others, but on the whole, an extra body in the car is a bonus in my view! You've just got to know your limits and your boundaries and you'll be fine - just like the Regulars.

I started when I was 19, ad bored in the day job. Joined primarily to see if I could do it full time without losing anything.

Nothing, well some very small amount of pounds per shift I think.
They get nothing at all unless you're in Scotland, excepting expenses (you shouldn't be out of pocket at all). I don't think the Scottish Exec have scrapped it the reward at all. I'm pretty sure every force would stop it in an instant if they didnt get the funding rather than pay out hundreds of thousands a year if they didn't need to!

Get over to PS.com and if you've got any questions, ask away, you'll get opinions (if slightly biased) or if you've force specific ones, they'll be best to help too.

Look me up

They have. I have the letter my mother was sent last year sitting in front of me.

Sometime last year or so. Unless they have brought it back into play.

I'd be very surprised if they had stopped funding to the forces and they're all still paying out. Anyhoo - Back on topic!

I've read Leicestershire which is where I'll probably apply for pay for expenses in their constabulary.

Expenses will mean like fuel allowance and perhaps a boot allowance, and that's about it ;)

Yeh thats it I think :).

Hoping to get based at nearest force which is Hinckley, about 3 miles from me. But I'd assume only if they have the space?

Best asking them directly what the chances are. I know up where we are, you get the choice of the area, but not the station - operational needs dictate where you're needed really. Give them a call and ask.

I will do, well where I live is Warwickshire, I think it maybe better if I apply for Warwickshire, as its only a 20minute walk to the local station. I'm going to ring them both tomorrow though during my free at uni.

A bit easier in relation to commuting to be honest.
