Re: speedo has cr*ped it :/ any sugestions on the problem
Mileometer just counts the same pulses as the speedo.
I think it is rotor, this is much cheaper than sensor. |

The front wheel comes off, little plastic bits come out. Buy new rotor - mine was about £20. Take it back from the dealer and get a 17mm spanner - you'll be able to fit it yourself and avoid an hour's labour (comprised of them making cups of tea and going "Hmm" a lot). Simples! Edit: YC got here first. Should check the rest of the thread instead of jumping straight from an e-mail ;) |
Re: speedo has cr*ped it :/ any sugestions on the problem
well they are checking it it tomorow i will see what they say then purchase the tool buy a second hand one from ebay (£30 for the whole lot) with 28 day waranty and then do it my self :)
PS can some one tell me where it plugs in as my wires are taped to geather (to make them look neet) so i carnt folow were it goes the shop is bikersworld daventry so not a stand alone dealer and the one lad thinks its the bit you lot think it is and sead it cost £17 but then there laybor is steep at £50 a hour. they are going to be fitting my braided lines for me and im suplying all the stuf :) as im having some lines made up for me because the renthals make the lines to short :) |
Re: speedo has cr*ped it :/ any sugestions on the problem

The ratchet set linked above will be sufficient for almost every general maintenance task short of chain adjustment. At £14.99, if you do one job that would charge an hour's labour (say, for instance, changing brake lines ;)), you've just saved yourself £35 at their rates. I started doing all my own maintenance a little earlier this year, after graduating from just doing oil+filter changes, chain adjustment etc. It's really not that hard. Get a haynes manual and it'll walk you through everything, and things like brake lines are common sense - you take the old ones off, and put the new ones on in their place, making sure nothing rubs or pinches and the hoses are routed correctly :) If in doubt, ask for local .orgers to give you a hand - there'll be someone near you who can show you what to do and help you through it. In no time you'll save yourself a fortune in mechanic fees :thumleft: |
Re: speedo has cr*ped it :/ any sugestions on the problem
looks like mine is playing up too. it was reading at 0 then i pulled into garage and wiggled the cable and seems to be working ok. Is there a way the wire connecting to the sensor can be done up or is it a complete unit? sensor and wire?

Re: speedo not working, any sugestions on the problem?
spoke to block at dealers and he think my problem could be the rotor as he mentioned they dont sell many sensors infact dont stock them but they do sell the rotor which does go more often. so i think i will pick one of these up and see how i go
