Only thing I'd suggest if you get a new one and plan on commuting is do a load of fettling as soon as you get it home. It'll save you a *lot* of grief and cost in the long run.

Have looked and one's with warrenty left but until new job starts and get some capital behind can't get one, need the finance for the first few months. New job is about 90 mile from my home so trains will be a rip off and also need transport as i've sold my beetle and my drifter

+1 everything above is so true, I bought my sv new, I wish I hadn't, you can get a 2nd hand one with all the extras you will want to do anyway for next to nothing.

I didn't learn my lesson and bought a 600rr new as well... Doh (will provably end up doing it again too lol)

If you have to finance to get a new one then leave it alone, seriously, the shine isn't worth the risk and additional cost (if you can't get 0%)

If you're commuting 90m /day your new bike will look like a ****ed example within a week or two, honestly dude you're crackers to do that to a brand spanker;)

SV is a solid bike, very little goes wrong outside the warranty period, if you're commuting the biggest issue you'll have is corrosion, and that's easily manageable with a bit of TLC

good idea to sell the beetle there.
used from dealer, you can get finance then but it wont be 0% tho. 90 miles is a long commute i know clip-ons would kill my wrists on the fully faired pointy.
i think the sv is slowly dying and there will be gladius to replace it.

This is all solid stuff, thanks guys...seriously thinking of just getting a second hander now and once money pours in get something a bit special later on. Have to say this forum is by far better in the way of peoples opinions, other car and bike ones couldn't give a toss unless it's about adding an exhaust or something like that.

For the same amount of money you could be paying out on a new bike you could be spending half that on a loan and saving cash, either for something special or for if something goes wrong.

Also and I know this is meant to be the SV forum but IMO for a 90 mile commute you'd be better off with something else. I'd personally go for a VFR750/800 for that kind of distance.

There are plenty of good second hand models. I think its the 2008 model and onwards that has the twin-spark engine (two spark plugs per cylinder) aswell as a more closed-loop EFI system (there is a sensor in the exhaust on the downpipe, just below the riders footpeg)

I like the K5 / K6 ones in red with the black frame, spidermans is like that

of course it dosn't beat a 1999 yellow curvy

nothing does.

[edit] except of course a VFR like druid suggested above...mmmm V4, thats a sound I yearn for every morning. Plus they have a bigger fuel tank, so more convinient riding between fuel-fill ups :)
