i read a few posts about front plug problems. the way i delt with it was to undo radiator and bottom pipe to it, then remove plug with original plug spanner. pulled back rubber boot on plug cap and put waterproof grease in it and replaced. wipe a thin film of grease over plug cap. i can say as yet no problems at all. bit of bu**ger that you remove radiator but it really gives much better accsess. regular applications of wd40 after that, infact all connection would benifit a squirt

the thing that bugs me with the "wet plug" thing is that it wasnt raining today or yesterday. and i havent washed it since i got it jan as i didnt pass my test till 2 weeks ago and its been in the garage over winter.
ill give the plug ago see if that helps.

also the fuel light came on at 86 miles from full. last week i filled it up to the top and the light wasnt on at 100. so its def useing more fuel.

when i did the plug cap waterproofing i also replaced the plugs with irridium ones, bought from spark plugs .co.uk . didn,t have a problem before i waterproofed, just done it to know i had.

still havent got the plug out. might take it to the inlaws as he has more tools than me.

i was looking at the front coil and the part that ataches it to the frame is rusty. is this a electrical contact point? also the conector that the orange and white wire is in seems loose.

any one tell me how to check if the coils have had it?

Repair the connector first and see if that solves the problem.

The way the garage checked mine was to use another coil, strapped it to the side of the bike and connect it up. It worked so they knew the coil had gone. So unless you wanna buy another coil I would try and rule everything else out first. If all else seems fine, after you have sorted the coil connectors and got the front plug out then you might have to admit defeat and take it to a garage to do the coil??

I still think it sounds like the connectors. You would not get intermittent if the coil had gone.

Does it do it at idle as well, or only when you're out riding? I had something going on with my bike that I thought was an occasional miss in one of the cylinders. While I had the airbox off and was doing some tuning, I realized it was actually a backfire through the carb, not a miss or exhaust backfire... I made it a bit richer on yorkie_chris' suggestion, and it helped... (still need to balance the carbs before I know for sure though).

Just a thought! If it does it at idle, you could take the air filter off and start it up, see if it's popping back through the carb.

If it's using a lot of fuel and it has this intermittent misfire problem, I'd definitely have those choke plungers out for a look see.

it dont run right on idle.

when rideing it if you hold the throttal at say 4-5k on the revs it will potter along then all of a sudden its like the other pot has caught and it flys of as if you have just pinned the throttal right back.

if you give it a fist full say if you were over takeing a car ect it bangs and pops and trys to golike the pot is catching then not. but realy fast.

also should the ht lead come out of the coil?
