I sometimes cannot believe the stories I hear of what happens in hospitals.. Had a taste of it myself when they introduced 15 degree rotation to my right foot after my accident in November and even after the corrective surgery did not get it right! Worst thing was that they were trying to persuade me that my leg was straight and I was making things up until I persuaded them to have a CT scan and measure it up..

I'm glad the treatment you are now receiving at Guy's is much better. It's good to feel you're in the hands of someone who knows what they're doing and can be asked to go to all extents to make sure you get better.. Hope the kidney disease is not permanent and you'll soon be back to your good, old grumpy self ;)
Best wishes from Kate & myself

glad to hear u ok'ish.. even if that means back to "your" normal...

my brother's solicitors practice specialises in hospital litigation,, but he defends/advises the hospital as to whether to pay out etc.. I am sure I could e mail him your situation and he could give some advise ..

Awww, Loz. I hate that "I've been to the hozzie, this should be straightforwardly fixable, but I'm not getting any better - in fact you're making it worse" feeling. As for any cantankerousness, I'm with SK on that one :)

Big hugs - will pop over to see you with a big bunch of sour grapes to throw at the doctors when you're next incarcerated. (you can see my office from across the river!)

I hear what you are saying, but the stent I had fitted in January wasn't designed to be in the body for longer than 4 weeks - there are different types of stent for different purposes. Mine was in for nearly 5 months and had been the cause of numerous painful infections, as well as being constantly noticeable inside me (I don't know my new one is in there). I got shunted from list to list so the 18 week deadline could be circumvented, and didn't even know about the shunting around until I was called by Bedford a week before I was due to be operated on by Guy's. It only came to light when I was talking to a friend of mine who is an NHS administrator who quickly cottoned on to why I'd had so many consultants on my case.

Bedford had been informed a month ago that I was under Guy's care but ignored it, and then ignored Guy's request for my medical history to be forwarded on to them (it still hadn't arrived on the day of me operation and I had an hour long consultation with the surgeon beforehand to explain my basic medical history).

When I say Bedford Hospital NHS Trust have been lacking in care and professionalism, I don't say it lightly - the way they have treated my case has been nothing short of shambolic. The best thing I ever did was demand my GP get me a referral to Guy's and St Thomas's because the level of care and medical expertise I have had there has been absolutely top quality.

Forgot to say, thanks for all the good wishes folks, they are very much appreciated and do help me recover.

I won't be throwing sour grapes at my current consultant and surgeon, they are wonderful people. I'll take you up on the visit though, always good to see a happy smiling face when you're locked away from the great unwashed.

Sounds awful Lozzo. A word of advice for you tho. Ask the doctors if you can have a look at the pipe, see if there is a protruding bolt from it that is far too long and then you could possibly claim an extra £200!

Sorry to hear you've been feeling so rotten Lozzo. Hope it all gets sorted properly soon.
