mmmmm, my thinking is that if it is an increase in voltage not ampage this is why the circuit breaker & fuses didn't kick / blow out and fried the kit.. i do not know if surge protectors protect against both voltage & ampage

from the description, the main trip switch did indeed trip out, but you switched it back on again...

true only after damage had occurred it would appear..

Called EDF, it has been traced to a transformer fault somewhere on their main line.. that would explain the fluctuation in the supply.... No idea when we will be back on..

Time to drive the food to my dads..

well power was back on at 9.45 last night not toooo bad really, midday to 21.45,

the list of stuff buggered is quite extensive...(i have fused tested and replaced fuses to double check)

32" LCD TV
Laptop
skybox
Desktop Computer
Microwave
Washing machine
Numerous fuses in low fused items etc etc

enough to really **** me off.

HO hum life carries on, at least no one was hurt.

I wouldn't whinge about that. Those fuses stopped the devices from being knackered.

Personal pet hate of mine is that everything seems to come with fuses of a much greater rating than required. Electronic items with 5A when they should have 1A. Everything else just seems to get 13A and they don't use anywhere near that amount of current.
