Re: Fubar

A upgraded cam chain tensioner is 60 quid.
An aftermarket cam chain is 70 quid from hi-level.
Dont know how much the guides are but they cant be more than 100 quid each

Also its rare for the rear cam chain tensioner to go its usually the front.

Cant see how both tensioners, chains and guides all go at once.

....and what they don't say is, that they'll put it in first gear, rock yer bike backwards and forwards, so it un sticks itself, and say you have all new parts! And they did feck allllllll

I suspect that he's quoted a high price because, for some reason, he doesn't want the job. He seems to think that he'll need to take the engine out and split the crank cases.

The rear cylinder _is_ rattling, but not nearly as badly as the front was.

I'll ask the local dealers to price it up.

A full engine removal, complete strip, rebuild and then back in the bike is generally 16 hours BUT you dont need to do that to change the tensioners and guides.

There is no law against people quoting too much as its upto you whether you have it done. I would say though to take it to someone who knows the SV650 a little better than the guy you have taken it to.
