my brothers duke was really bad with rust as some clown disconnected the filler drain hose from the filler neck. i emptied the tank of the water/petrol then removed the loose rust by hand with cloths. emptied 1/2 bottle of rust eater and swirled around then left overnight, repeated swirling the next day then left till rust eater had evaporated (mostly). once everything was dry'ish i sloshed some petrol round and emptied contents.

the tank has not leaked in 2 years.

well really unless its leaking or looking in bad condition is it really needed?
just because its been sat around doesnt mean it needs doing.

My zzr was sat for 6 years pretty much before i got it with stale fuel in the bottom. i've not had any issue with the tank rusiting.
