Re: Declaring Mods to insurance.
I declared my Beowulf, tail tidy and a tinted screen (even though I don't even own the latter yet) and my insurance company didn't add a penny. I don't think motorbike insurers are quite as anal as car insurers.

Re: Declaring Mods to insurance.
Some are better than others - I did mine with CN again this year, they do seem quite laid back. Girl on phone advised me that the underwriter of my policy, Equity Red Star, are quite chilled. I think that makes a difference.
Interesting that you went with Aviva Barwell - Not once in 15 years have I had a decent quote from them, always more expensive than others I've tried. Tip: With CN, do a quote online then do nothing. Next day they will call you and offer a better price than you were quoted. |

Re: Declaring Mods to insurance.
I always haggle with Carol Nash every year. For the sake of a few phone calls for quotes from other companies they have bettered my renewal quote and any other quote I have managed to get from other insurance brokers. They at least can see the sense in having a smaller margin of profit than no profit at all. Unlike my car insurance company.

I always just call them and say I want to stay with them but I'm not going to mess around playing games. They normally pretty quickly manage to sort me out to within £50 of the cheapest company on gocompare, bikeinsurer of similar. I don't mind paying a little bit more with them as the service and extras they provide are worth it. |
