Re: Insurers, don't you just love 'em
Yea, this whole Simply insurance thing is a laugh... I was with them since they did a decent service for the 2 years I was with them, I then got a letter through saying they were stopping doing bikes etc and that Swinton will contact me.
Swinton contact me and quote £900. Says what you think "pretty bad to be honest" I say, "how much you pay last year?", "£350". "Oh, no wonder they went under", whats the best quote you have this year?" "£375" I say. Ah ha **** thought id actually go for it. Swinton have always been WAY off of the mark. Its funny really. Anyway, now payed £413 FC 6y Protected NCB, with breakdown etc, including all the mods so im pretty happy, with MCE. |
Re: Insurers, don't you just love 'em
My insurers did similar trick this year
"well it was £300 this year, that was really cheap, in fact you mugged us for that" "best we can do this year is £560, everythings gone up, you'll struggle to do better than that" Ok we'll see. £250. Fair enough sales pitch but when you've just told them you've just had quotes around £275, just blatant b*llocks! |

My previous insurer said £600 renewal, Swintons £456 and they were the cheapest I got. To give the people that know about the IAM arguments on the org; IAM Adelaide insurance £700 TPFT with 3000 miles usage (I do around 7k a year, that was £1,000 or £350 more than I paid the previous year) |
Re: Insurers, don't you just love 'em
My rant gets bigger today. I set up a new policy with hastings for just under £340, and called Swinton on Saturday to tell them where to stick their quote (although perhaps a little more politely). I was then advised that I couldn't unless I paid an additional £25 for the honour, completely contradicting what I was told two days earlier. After a 5 min argument, I told them to leave it running, and instead have written a formal complaint, along with returning the docs and telling them to cancel the policy.
Got my new docs today, and they show the bike as being registered in 2005 on a 10 plate. Obviously that would be an impossibilty, so I called Hastings to ask for it correcting. After being passed from pillar to post I was told that it would cost me £43 to correct! This is despite the fact that their website shows the bike as being registered in 2010! They are blaming the comparison site I initially used, despite the fact that it doesn't ask for when the bike was registered if you put the reg no in. I was given the choice of cancelling and paying to do so, pay the premium, so not really much of a choice. Another formal complaint heading to insurance-land, and if I don't get positive answers to them both, I'm sorely tempted to refer both of them to the ombudsman. :smt072 |
Re: Insurers, don't you just love 'em
Do it mate, thats stupid! I've never paid out in the first 2 weeks (the grace period by law) I had to correct my last policy twice as they mucked the paperwork up, and paid £20 when I had to up the mileage
