its a kawasaki my good sir:rolleyes::smt040 anyways, going by my recent history i'll have my work cut out not crashing for a change!! (before i crashed my sv ,about a year earlier i did the same to the wifes cbr600f.) By the way the sv is not a bad bike but was a step to far back for me after having a blade. It was the suspension that i could just not get on with(well and i was used to more power!) That was after about ten years of keeping it rubber side down!! |

For me the SV is my first bike and I know it's not all that, although is great fun never the less. I am sure I'll join your way of thinking someday but I figure I will keep mine for a while longer to get more practise/competent on a bike that isn't as good as the next one will be. I'm also in two minds on going sports bike (zxr/gsxr/cbr) or all rounder (ktm smt) or naked big twin (tuono/duke)...and until I am more certain (currently ktm) I will stick with the sv. |

But as a new rider i think the sv is a great bike for you to learn on. I have been riding a bit longer than you (passed my test in 91) and i still change my mind about what bikes i want all the time! my history includes zzr 600's , zx 400 ,vfr 750 ,zxr750,cbr600's,sv650, cb1300,rd350lc,gsx550ef and a few more!! My wife's just as bad and has just traded a er6f for a brand new cbr600rr! |
Re: sold the sv!!
Quite a list there...zx10 on the end of that now
I LOVE the RC8 but I think 1) I would kill myself (crash), 2) I would kill myself (posture) and 3) everyone would hear a crazy man giggle like a little child everytime he got close to his bike :) Maybe if I have a garage any time soon I might entertain it but I would be sitting at the window guarding it right now...hell if I have sheltered bike accommodation and I can manage the funds I would love an RC8 and an SMT! |

As far as killing yourself, you may find that big bikes are a lot more docile at low revs than you think! you can also leave it in a higher gear in the wet etc and just use the torque. Comfort wise i found that the sv the most uncomfortable bike that i ever owned:confused: i am not saying that every one does but different bikes fit different people so when you do decide to change take lots of test rides!!:smt040 |
