Re: The garage solution brainwave!
Slightly off topic..
I used to keep my bike in the hallway before I built the garage for them. Now the bike insurance is a bit odd on this area too. If I had a timber garage the bike was classed as "garaged" obviously, but if it was in the house, it was classed as "within the grounds" ie, the same as in the front garden:confused: I asked how it worked as I know the bike would be safer in the house less that 30 feet from my bedroom than at the bottom of the garden in a remote access building, but they couldnt explain it. So insuring the bike garaged and in a shed was cheaper than in a more secure, occupied and alarmed brick building (my house). Insurance companies make it up as they go along! |

To keep your insurance you may well need to change the doors to the lounge to 30 or 60 minute fire doors. There is however a good chance the rest of the walls suffice as fire given the type of construction used both now and over the periods of house building. |
Re: The garage solution brainwave!
And you will probably fins that the wording in ur policy is that any inflammable liquid should be stored in a proper container,
well you don't get more designed for safe storage of fuel than a fuel tank do you? Oh hold on.. did you not already say the bike is in the house? how does it get in? Can you not just modify the internals to enable you to get the bike in the front room from its current entrance? ave loads of hassle externally, no need for planning permission etc either. |
