The rear is 5" rather than 4.5 which means a 180 "fits". Well, nearly fits, you've actually ended up with a rim closer to the recommended one for 160s. Then there's the train of thought that your wheels need to match.

It's not a mod I've done, I didn't see the point. There are now kits to put late model GSXR rear wheel on SV, which are lighter than F3 and correct size to use 180 tyre

I run a 170 rear on the 5.0 inch rear CBR600F wheel, although I revert to 160 rear if I use Supercorsa's for a track day. The original plan was to swap them for Marvic Penta CBR600F3 wheels when secondhand ones became available, but I've not been in a position to purchase on the few occasions they have turned up.

Little point on most road bikes, IMO. It's a popular enough mod in the offroading fraternity (particularly for competition use) because it makes the clutch action lighter and as you're on the clutch all the time offroad, reduces fatigue, gives better control, etc. I'm toying with the idea of one on my GS. No way my SV'd get one.
