Do you know anyone with a Dremel, you may be able to get in there with a small cutting disk, you could have used mine if you were nearer!!

Cheers Guys. Will be giving it a go tomorrow!

Then shortly i'll be having a go at the Zunkus tail tidy mod, and putting my lowers back on.
Seems i've bounced back and got into my bike again, instead of it just dragging me to work.
Must be the weather!:)

or try getting a socket one size smaller (not a 6 sided socket) and hammering it onto the nut, which will hopefully get it off. I've done this many a time with a rounded nut and generally works quit well.

dont you need a longer bolt anyway for the new shock?

i did for zx636 shock, top bolt was fine but the standard bottom bolt was too long to fit in the linkage.it was either that or the standard shock was threaded to take a bolt and the zxz6 needed a nut and bolt combo, cant remeber why, but yep needed a new bolt

Still not done this yet, as no room really for either file or hacksaw, so going to drill the head of the bolt out. (Any tips?)

So, I enquire at local Suzuki dealership for 2 nuts and 2 bolts after getting the part numbers, and get quoted £19!!!:-x

Full suspension linkage, complete with good nuts and bolts, on fleabay is only £7, and as an amazing stroke of luck is based in Hull, so can pick up without paying postage!!:D

So thats the plan for Royal Wedding Day, so worthwhile for the day off!!

You can buy sockets that are designed to grip rounded off fastener heads, they have a very coarse, tapered left hand cutting thread that bites into the rounded off fastener. You wack them onto the fastener with a hammer and the loosening torque causes them to grip even tighter.

These are ace but if you get to the stage where drilling is the answer, I'd consider Alden 'drill outs'.

Btw, hammer and smaller socket often works a treat.

My tip would be to centre pop the head as near to the centre as you can determine so that the drill starts in the right place, use new drill and not too small you dont want it breaking in the hole. Good luck

Top tip and yes it sucks. Hardened steel extractor snapped off in cylinder head of my learner.
Don't use a cheap bit or it will cost you in the long run.

For rounded off fasteners, these devices work extremely well.
