Re: parrafin
So you guys use parrafin or something similar to clean your bike chains? If i'd known that I wouldnt have gone and used Maintenance spray to clean my chain the last few times (Basically WD-40) as didnt have the money to spend on bike chain cleaner. The amount of money I could have saved buying 4L tubs of parrafin rather than them £10 little spray cans. #-o
You learn something knew everyday on this forum, at least I do anyway. |
Re: parrafin
Most manufacturers don't recommend using WD40 on chains, mainly if seal ring chains. Certainly don't use it as a lube despite WD40 suggesting it as a use.

Re: parrafin
I only used it as I had nothing else to clean the chain with. From now on though I will be using parrafin as its alot cheaper than the spray cans and it seems to do a better job aswell. Thats if it doesnt damage the o-rings.

Off I Ho to buy some parrafin then. I've been using WD40 to clean my chain:( I just fitted a did gold chain yesterday, don't want to ruin the seals prematurely. As an aside what are those kettenmax cleaners like?

Re: Paraffin - where from?
Pretty good, it gets it nice and clean and can be used to re-lube the chain with a nice even coating, not as quick to use as the vids on thier site say though.
