Buffet dinner in the hotel, but the menu looks good so no complaints (and no washing up).

We had the full monty at lunchtime. Just managed to squeeze in some pork pie, sausage rolls and yet more triffle. Cheese, pate and crackers to come with a little tawny port.

We had 12 for dinner yesterday. I made a duck liver parfait, smoked salmon and horseradish blinis and tiger prawns parcels to start. Cockeral and pork loin with loads of crackling. Roasties, parsnip fingers wrapped in pancetta, braised spiced red cabbage, carrots and the obligatory Brussels. For dessert my mum did a chocolate mouse and father in law did a Christmas pudding. He couldn't get the brandy to light properly so I poured a bit of my 151% rum on it. We then couldn't put the flames out! Chargrilled Christmas pud anyone?!

Stop you're making me hungry!

I always warm the brandy in a ladle over a gas ring, before pouring it over the pud, never fails to light
